Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?
I think there is some confusion about traffic police and highway police ... Different departments in the Thai police. Neither of which do any active patrolling or dangerous driving prevention to make the roads safer, so not sure what your point is, there is no confusion. Irrespective of what depart...

Well of course, but that's probably how they see it, not how it *should* be.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 11:49 am I’m not sure I’d agree that it’s not their job, but like so many things out here, there’s no accountability

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?
The traffic cops here do not patrol or police the roads to make them safer as they do in most countries; they lurk under trees at roadblocks, nabbing passers-by for easy money. This is why they'll ignore obvious traffic violations as it isn't their job to give a shit about dangerous driving; they're...

Like the comments about the cameras ..."The cameras always work when they have to prosecute the 3-finger salute or the establishment protestors, but when it comes to prosecuting those breaking the law every day, these cameras don’t work."

Re: Thai Football 2023/24
Prachuap finally drag themselves out of the bottom three, though its pretty tight down there and may come down to goal difference. How many games to go, seven?

Re: Doctors warn of hot summer heatstrokes
It is hotter for longer this particular year due to El Niño, but I've seen it even hotter here in previous years. Age and tolerance definitely are factors; its a lot easier to deal with in your twenties!
Next week's road trip to Kanchanaburi will be fun.

Re: YouTube Vanced
A bit of research and we're back in business with ReVanced. It uses YouTube version 19-09-37 which now works with no ads and with the ability to background play.

Re: Best long-term "unlimited" internet SIM deals
4,500 baht per year is more than double what most of these annual internet SIMs cost. Will see if we can extend the AIS one on the same package (15Mb/100GB).

Re: Menu/food prices rising in Thailand
Imported foods in Thailand were massively overpriced to begin with due to the taxes/duties so yes, they're only going one way (and I know it is happening in other countries).

Re: YouTube Vanced
Apparently, YouTube Premium in Thailand is about 160 baht a month, which isn't so bad, but I don't want to be lumbered with the Thai version of the platform or restrictions/censorship. I only really use it for music anyway so a streaming service such as Spotify might be better. https://youtubever.co...

Re: Best long-term "unlimited" internet SIM deals
What's the latest on these annual internet SIM deals? I noticed the True one we switched to has been hiked 50% from last year's prices now (probably following AIS's lead). The AIS one is now 2,200 but they've halved the data limit to 50GB.

Re: YouTube Vanced
Not sure what you mean by 'saving', but ReVanced was essentially YouTube without the annoying forced ads every ten minutes (and you could leave it playing it in a closed window which you can't with the regular app - though this is more for music than video). Now that its dead, I'm back to Shoppee sc...

Looks like the Google police have shot Revanced now, mine no longer plays ... YouTube is finally cracking down on third-party apps like ReVanced Over the past year or so, we've seen a lot of changes at YouTube, with some having big impacts on the way people enjoy the platform. Since ad revenue is a ...

Yes, and you make these comparisons on every single thread when something detrimental to Thailand is reported.
Thailand menu/food prices please (we don't live in Europe or buy food there).
