The Islay whiskys are the smokey ones Lagavulin,finlaggan,Ardbeg,Bowmore, I have a bottle of cask strength Laphroaig 57.8% it's an evil bustard,some of the Mezcals are very nice smokey but without the peat.

I just spoke to a friend, he was admitted to hospital in Phuket for 4 days with stomach problems. After returning home a few days later, he collapsed and was rushed to hospital again but unfortunately passed away before reaching there. just spent 7 nights in hua hin it seemed busy to me, the restaurants on poolsuk were crammed every night but the bars not so busy,did not really look like a slump not so
many single guys but lots of family groups.

I did google it and it seems they are most active at sunrise and sunset and they dont like wind,the best antidote seems to be a hot shower as hot as you can stand for 5 minuets,

Sand flies in Hua Hin?

I have just read on a pattaya forum about a trip to Hua Hin that the local`s are reporting a bad sand fly problem this year is it true and is it spread over the whole beach? cheers.

To be honest, the average tourist comes for what, 2/3 weeks at best. The don't have to worry about visa extensions or any other such nonsense. No big deal a whisky from India won a few years ago,for what its worth my favourite is Bowmore 18 year old another Islay.
