Re: Drivers License Dec. 7 2016

Residence letter from immigration (1 for car and 1 for bike) at 500 baht a pop. For that you need a photo, copies of your passport (ID page, latest stamp, departure card, address notification slip), all those copies again for Transport office (2 x if for 2 licences), copy of front and back of your ...

Re: The computer and software security thread

Most of these attacks are socially engineered, meaning that the user has to do something - open an attachment, or click a dodgy link in an email or on feckbook - to infect the system. A bit more vigilence with what you click will go a long way! Except the last two big attacks did not require any in...

Re: Why aren't there bars like this in Hua Hin?

Yes, the "no have"/"finish" or "mod kaa" can be an annoyance but that's not specific to La Birra, really! If my first choice is unavailable then I'm usually luckily enough to get my second choice. the last time I went, the beer menu - whilst still quite large - did have quite a few items removed. I'...

Re: New bike path on Highway 4

Are you sure the sign says that motorcycles are not permitted? I'm not familiar with that particular stretch but all the signs that I have seen along the route say that motorcycles are permitted?

Re: Why aren't there bars like this in Hua Hin?

Anyone been to La Bierra in Khao Takiap yet? Just wondering, rather than reading about Japanese brothels or how safe you feel visiting Thai whorehouses alone. ...yes? "Lost" pub in Khao Takiep also offer a few imported beers, though nowhere near the variety on offer at La Birra. They have a big foo...

I've only ever used Gatwick once, but found it a far nicer experience than the one found at the hell hole known as Heathrow.

Re: How to get small baht notes?

There's a few things you can do to try and ensure you always have a decent selection of notes. Firstly, when you need to draw, say 20,000bt, choose "enter amount" and enter 19,900 instead. That gets you 19 * 1000 bt notes, 1 * 500 and 4 * 100, which is a start. Secondly, as others have said, wheneve...

Re: Why aren't there bars like this in Hua Hin?

I'm in Korat at the moment and a couple of months or so ago, a new bar opened, called 'Tiger is Coming'. Just on the corner of one of the junctions in downtown Korat. They stock 300 beers from all over the World - Europe, Thailand and Asia (including Thai beers I have never heard of), the Americas,...

Re: Hua hin post office location?

ok, thanks, and you can send EMS at any of the post offices, even the one in Market village? Last time I went there (this was a couple of years ago, things of course may have changed) as well as the additional 70bt service fee for sending EMS, there was a sign saying that all EMS parcels needed to ...

Re: Best "free" film/TV streaming sites?

To watch the BBC shows you need a TV license, how about adding another million or two viewers paying a small monthly fee so non-resident/non-citizen people can watch also? Maybe they offer that already, but I've never come across it. they make money selling rights to their channels and content to i...

That looks like a cloud sync service, in the same vein as DropBox or OneDrive. These are fantastic services but they are not backup services as they sync everything from your computer. If the files get encrypted by ransomware on your computer, the encrypted files are also uploaded to the host.

Re: ThaiExpatTV,ExPatPremiumTV & 365Sport Problems

Why can somebody like Sky, provide the services legally? Because they don't have the rights to provide the coverage in Thailand. Fox Sports do. Why can't Fox Sport (Thailand) provide the service? Because they sub-let the coverage to True (and CTH? What happened to them...?). Why can't True provide ...

Re: Smartphone App for Hua Hin Immigration

"Knowing how long they have to wait will help people make the most of their day without needing to sit idly in the office, officials said." First up, if the staff were to get to work on time in place of wandering in around 09-15 am, and then chatting to their mates before doing anything constructiv...

Re: Wanting Android Tablet

(try finding a model with both dual-sim and a separate SD slot and big battery these days....) Samsung J7 2016 (yes, the year is part of the name) J7 2016. Had one of those. Unfortunately it fell into the Themes on a visit to England last year. I don't call a 3xxx milliamp battery 'big' but it's be...
