Re: Thai Yellow Curry

Thought I'd resurrect this thread for information purposes as I found that The Bauguette have Gean Gari Gai (chicken) on the menu. It is 99bt and comes served with a... baguette! I had it yesterday. It was very different to the one along the railway road, but very tasty too. It's listed as "Indian c...

Re: Jalapeños at Villa Market!

I'll try to get to Market Village before they're gone. Villa Market, even! :) And I wouldn't worry too much; as I said I bought mine there about 6 months ago so I'm guessing they've been there the whole time (though I suppose it's possible then and now are the only two times they've been available ...

Unfortunately they don't store well.
Huh? They're pickled aren't they? They pretty much last forever so long as they're kept in the fridge. I got mine from Villa Market about 6 months ago and they still seem fine...

Re: How is "your area" denial of service done, technically?

Probably better to get a router with a built-in VPN server than dedicate a whole new machine to the task (though if you're going to dedicate a machine, it would probably be far cheaper in the long run to use Pii or any of the other single-board machines rather than a power-guzzling old PC). But it's...

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

It's a myth now that Thailand is cheap...not even close now. It used to be a great deal, but those days are gone. The pros still outweigh the cons but the lifestyle price thing is now not what it was. I remember the good old days when a glass of beer was 20 baht a pop and the exchange rate was 75 t...

Re: Hin Lek Fai Monkeys

I haven't been there recently but when I have visitors I often do a Wat Khao Takieb/Hin Lek Fai comparison excursion, going to see the aggressive monkeys at Takieb then the generally more placid ones at Lek Fai. My brother made a good educated guess that the ones at HLF are probably less aggressive ...

As I said in a previous post Thais react as animals. Look at videos about road rage, young school boys attacking others with swords and more.
Problems that are absolutely 100% limited to the confines of Thailand...

Re: Electric Cars

The owners of the buildings could buy the panels and sell on the electricity to the car owners. I can imagine businesses like shopping malls could do it at a discount to attract customers in the same way that large supermarkets in the UK sell cheap petrol. Yea it'll probably be like WiFi.... people...

Re: Hua Hin - Pattaya ferry project news and updates

Re: Pies in Hua Hin

I have no further info... I neither know, nor care, if they were made locally, abroad, or extra-terrestrially. Next time I'm in there I'll try and note the brand name. Think it began with a P. I don't find gourmet particularly expensive, but then I don't do a whole lot of cooking at home... It's a c...

Re: Pies in Hua Hin

Was walking around Gourmet Market in BluPort yesterday, saw some frozen pies in the freezers, and thought of this thread! There was "steak and something" (kidney? onion? I can't remember) for I think 120bt, and a pork and something for 90ish baht. Think there were some other options, too.
