Re: New drivers must take longer theory training

Yes, the woman at Pranburi Transport Dept told me last week that I could apply for a new licence 60 days before my current one expires, so I got it done as I'll be away in December and had a free day yesterday. A pretty painless process - pleasant, helpful staff and a bonus that my new licence's val...

Re: New drivers must take longer theory training

I renewed my initial (two-year) driving licence today at Pranburi. Arrived upstairs at 08.20 this morning with: * Residency letter from Immigration Dept - got that last week @B500 * Medical certificate from a walk-in Pranburi doc - got that on Saturday morning @B100 * Current driving licence (expiry...

Re: Hammock for a hefty porker

Thank you! I'll trundle down there. (And I hope I didn't come across as judgmental about larger bodies - nothing wrong with carrying a bit of weight for sensible reasons, like beer and good food.)

Hammock for a hefty porker

I'd like to take a hammock back to the UK for my friend, as he fondly recalls lolling in one for a couple of hours on a beach holiday in Thailand a few years ago. I think it might have been one of those colourful stringy nylon(?) ones I saw in markets a few years ago. Thing is, I guess he weighs at ...

Re: Liver Tonic

Turmeric is supposed to be a great liver healer, 'though apparently the dose would need to be fairly hefty to gain any benefit. Maybe worth researching on Google;naresh/dried cheap as chips here, e.g. Makro. What worked for me (though quite possibly placebo effect?) was milk thistle tablets. Somehow...

Irregular printer use = can't print

Apologies for boring post/if this has already been covered... How do you stop your desk top printer ink from drying out or the nozzles seizing up or whatever happens to stop the printer working when you don't use it often enough? My IT guy attached a tank thingy to my printer with economy sized inks...

UV fabric protector?

Hi, does anyone know if there's a spray (or wash) I can buy here that will help to protect my brightly colored cushion covers on outdoor furniture from fading in the sun? Ta in advance for any suggestions.

Re: Sheraton Hua Hin - Holiday from Hell

OP you have my empathy... Stayed at Sheraton HH for two nights in 2011. A previous visit was fine, but this one not so, for exactly the same reason. The entire hotel was taken over by a massive 3-day Indian wedding. Swimming pools were out of bounds for normal hotel guests as squads of workers built...

Re: Opinions on living at sea craze

A friend lived at Sea Craze for a while and liked everything about it... except for weekends and holidays, when children (mostly unsupervised, he noted) made quite a bit of early morning noise rampaging in the corridors and shrieking loudly in the pool. But, to be fair, kids aren't quiet; he knew yo...

Re: Govt to increase alcohol tax again

Is the hike coming into effect from tomorrow? I thought it was today, but I stocked up on beer, wine and cigarettes at the usual prices at 12:00 in Tesco.

Re: Is International Mail Taking a Long Time Getting to HH?

Is it down to Iindividual post offices and post delivery staff? My recent experiences: Outgoing post - Last Thursday my sister received the birthday card I airmailed from Market Village postal outlet to her (the UK) on 8th October. Incoming post: An EPS delivery driver rang my bell here on Tuesday m...

Re: Medical Insurance in Thailand or anywhere for that matter

Sad and horrified to read about your nephew's truly awful situation; I'm sure I speak for everyone here in wishing him the best possible recovery and strength to deal with this new chapter in his life. And thank you for giving me the nudge I need to to sort out insurance for myself. Dreading it, as ...

Uploading photo here?

Hi, I wanted to show a photo I took in HH town centre today but I can't work out how to upload it. Could someone give me step by step instructions? Earlier threads explaining how to, via Options, don't seem to be relevant to the screen I'm looking at (but that's probably just me, as sadly I'm still ...
