Re: The best pharmacy in Hua Hin?

Pharmacies literally everywhere here, as many of them as there are massage, laundry and beauty salons. I have a few preferred ones but depends where you are. One on the road behind clock tower, cheap, big and good English. One on road right on top of 94 vERy helpful and very good English. Big Chines...

Re: Looking for a nice place to get in shape// Fitness

If you are in 102 then you have Amazing Muay Thai (more than just Muay Thai) on the same street, also Pump Up soi 88 and the soi 94 gym also very nearby.
Also, one I forgot to mention Sports Villa on soi 104 (roughly) - havent been there for years, pretty basic last time I went but nice pool

Re: Thai women second fattest in Asia

I once heard a Thai expression which translated to: "When you're fat, you smell good and when you're skinny, you stink". But I don't think the current fatty situation is a face thing (though possibly in the past), as touched on here already, I think it is down to a generally sedentary lifestyle and ...

Re: Thai women second fattest in Asia

I always feel very sad to see the vendors lined up outside of schools selling utter crap to the kids of all ages - all fried, fatty, or sugary junk, pretty disgraceful. It's inside the schools too - 'tuck' shops selling candy, soda and ice cream all day everyday.

Re: Renting A House In Hua Hin

Absolutely JJB! I was going to add that my writings were working on an assumption of a decent agent, but reconsidered as that may have ended up in another predictable agent bashing thread. See your point too PeteC, and it's tied in with the above I guess. But as a tenant if you use an agent and pay ...

Re: Renting A House In Hua Hin

Hi, in my experience: 1. Is there a standard form of contract that is used for a villa lease, or is this down to the landlord/agent/tenant to thrash out? Agent should provide this, often a few drafts until all parties are satisfied before signing. 2. The couple have offered to pay 6 months rent up f...

Re: Looking for a nice place to get in shape// Fitness

soi 112 - True Arena (the best and most expensive, by a long shot)
soi 88 - Pump Up gym (I like this one at the mo.)
soi 88 - @letic (never been)
soi 94 - crusty gym (forgot the name, old equipment)
soi 102 - Amazing Muay Thai (may have changed name but same location- has full gym)

Re: Liver Tonic

There is an OTC supplement called Samarin here, available in 70 or 140mg for liver cleansing (it contains Silymarin, you can Google it for liver benfits). I also take a Thai herbal supplement that is supposed to help, will check name when I get home. Start the day with a glass of warm water with fre...

Re: Keeping small outdoor fish bowl clean

Thanks all, yesterday I bought a pleco fish and liberated a few plants from local pond...yeah one of them looks like a floating lettuce! If i change the water I'll move it to a shadier spot, no way i can lift it when it's full. Maybe try and ween them off food too. Thanks again guys

Keeping small outdoor fish bowl clean

As title suggests liking for tips to keep fish bowl clean. It's the Thai style type that's like a large plant pot with guppies in it. I just changed the water and removed the dead lotus plant, now it only has small white pebbles at the bottom (added today for first time) and a small clay plant plot ...
