Philippine Island to close to tourism.

President Duterte, has proclaimed that he is closing the highly popular island of Boracay to all tourists for six months, due to the serious issues with sewage and litter being pumped into the sea. There are around 30,000 residents on the island, who work in the tourism industry. The president has s...

Re: Briton arrested for 'kicking Thai wife to death' for not having sex with him!

Now, his two children have no mother and will have to grow up knowing their father killed her. What a terrible life they will have. Not getting sex from a woman, is never any excuse for violence against anyone, let alone your own wife. He, at least, seems to have confessed, but still, I suspect he w...

Re: nonstick cooking spray

Anyone know where to buy nonstick cooking oil spray, preferably virgin olive oil, any make, I just want to use less oil in cooking. Spray.jpg StevePiraq I don’t think there is such a thing as “non stick” cooking oil. The ones you get in those spray cans are around 50% oil, the rest is water, emulsi...

This comes up on google.
Don’t know which of the names your contract was with.

There used to be a forum member on here
called SuperJoe that did home alarms and he had a good reputation, but haven’t seen him on here for years.

Re: Price of Thai Food in England & Vice Versa

The weekly market in a local town sells Pappaya, but you have to get there around 7am, otherwise they are all gone. The wife also get Moolie (that big white carrot shaped thing) and she also gets some fresh herbs from there. Availability of ingredients for Thai dishes has got a lot better here in th...

Re: Typical price of a large beer in HH bars?

Oh well, that’s to be expected I suppose. Haven’t been down Binta for a few years now. We seem to spend our time in Thailand either in Nakhon Sawon, or up in the far north, beer seems a lot cheaper there. Still, in Hua Hin, most things are a lot more expensive, being a destination for the BKK set, m...

I seem to remember that in 2004, a large Heineken was Baht 85.
That was in HUA Hin Bintabars. Doesn’t seem to have gone up much.

Re: Price of Thai Food in England & Vice Versa

There are 3 Thai restaurants in a town near us, all selling the usual Thai dishes, which are fine. However, all these restaurants will, if given prior notice, lay on a spread of real Thai dishes. Every time we go, the wife rings them and arranges her own menu of food dishes that she wants them to se...

Re: Non-stop Perth to London: what scared a journalist in economy class

Khundon1975, there are some guides on the following. There was an article recently that I cannot find just now, where the Leprechaun was quoting prices. But from what I have read they are aiming this service more at business travellers with premium prices and then hoping to "top off" with the rest ...

Re: Non-stop Perth to London: what scared a journalist in economy class

Nereus I seem to remember in an article on this flight, the airline stated they had fitted an upgraded air filtration system for this flight. I would use this service in a heartbeat, if it went from Heathrow to Brisbane, so we could visit family and then get shorter connecting flights to Hobart. Ha...

PEL2112UK :D All the visas I've ever done (visa for the wife to enter the UK and 35+ visas for visiting family) I downloaded the forms from the UK Visa website, filled them in and either took them with me to Thailand or posted them to Thailand and they took them, together with supporting documentat...

Surprised so many motorcycles got destroyed!
Would have thought that the owners would have moved them if possible.
Maybe they were busy short timing and wanted their monies worth first. :naughty:

Yes, I knew that, but still no return on investment until the house sells at a profit above cost to maintain. No one has mentioned any return on investment, just the opposite in fact. Discussing investment return aspect of house market in Hua Hin, if you bought in a good thriving area such as Bonka...

Re: UK Widows pension

Nereus you mentioned that this was many years ago that you did this. I believe that the widow's pension only lasts for 52 weeks after the death of the partner, so maybe she is timed out by now. I don't know if she could make a backdated cliam,if she didn't claim at the time, maybe worth an e-mail t...
