Re: Wuhan Virus Precautions

I believe that keeping a general good hygiene is the best way to go: Wash your hands throughly after being out & about. Don't wipe your eyes/nose/face with your hands if they are not newly washed. Avoid touching surfaces like handrails, door handles and the like if possible. Use your hip to push...

Re: New Chinese virus 'will have infected hundreds'

I remember arriving at BKK during either the SARS or the avian flu epidemic. Everybody was herded through some very ad-hoc screening stations with an infrared camera and a monitor. I wonder if the same will happen when we arrive next sunday :-) If anybody had been watching the monitor, then they mig...

Re: Home country Credit / Debit card purchases

As a (returning) tourist this is good advice for me. With the fees on cash withdrawal from ATMs (both on my cards and from the Thai bank operating the ATM), there's a strong incentive to using the card when doing business anywhere that accepts the card. I've not paid much attention to the currency b...

All the above have an open beach so why not Hua Hin? Why should it be so different?
Why, for God's sake should it be like all the other locations mentioned?

After working like a madman, Santa took a day off, to try out the flute and outfit a child gave him instead of cookies.

I've bought a few perfumes from this stall.

They are indeed copies, but fairly well done.

Many thanks
Healers are notoriously hard to find. You might instead want to find a high level mage. They can often cast a minor healing spell when sufficiently compensated.

(Sorry... couldn't resist :-)

Fibre optics just ensures a nice big hole between you and your provider.

The problems reported in this thread sounds like a problem with parts of the providers internal networks, or their connection to the outside world.

Re: What's the hottest (chilli) food you've ever eaten?

One of the first times we were in Thailand, I got a jungle curry that made my ears itch and gave me a serious case of hiccups. But making food strong, " just because ", like those referred to in the article makes no sense IMHO. But... It gives the restaurant a story to tell, and a little f...

Re: Windows 8

I have been working with Windows since around version 3.11 for workgropups. I've had a few run-ins with Windows 8, and as long as I can avoid it, I won't have any more. At work we will be using Win7 for the forseeable future, and anyone asking me about home use will get a free copy of Ubuntu or Gent...

Re: Cookin Corner

For a super simple and delicious pancake try this: ½ banana (or one big Thai banana) 1 egg Method: Using a fork, mash the banana. Mix well with egg. Heat a frying pan, and add a dollop of butter. When melted, pour in the mixture. Fry like a normal pancake. It will have a tendency to break apart, so ...

Re: History Challenge

Indeed, Wilhelm II set the reich on a "New Course", that led to the support of Austria-Hungary, and eventual defeat in WWI.

He was grandson of Queen Victoria, and has probably visited her estates in Scotland as a kid.

He died in the "low land" (Holland) in 1941.
