But is it going to happen, has anyone actually been able to determine that. A new major road across all that virgin land could cost millions of USD dollars

Re: Tax Residency (bank requirements)

I have just returned from the Hua Hin Revenue office, where I had a very informative discussion and was advised the following: You only need a Thai TIN if you have a business, work in Thailand or earn a taxable income in Thailand by any other means. If you do not earn a taxable income you do not nee...

I can see a slight benefit to this however I think the negative aspects far outweigh the positive.

Re: Tax Residency (bank requirements)

So what is the final outcome of this, if resident here for less that 180 days no TIN is required, so which countries TIN do I advise my UK bank as I do not pay tax anywhere.

Lloyds UK have now advised they will advise the relevant tax authority, I can only assume this is Thailand.

Re: House market in Hua Hin

My assumption was based on Chinese purchasers having relationships with Thai/Chinese families in Thailand and whilst they would not be able to buy directly in their own name they could via their relations and a contract of use or some sort established. I am not saying it does happen just that it cou...

Re: Mobile phone blockers in Hua Hin?

As I thought to block within a certain radius, maybe useful for schools, libraries etc. Not really something individuals should be allowed to use as it would be extremely useful to criminals.

Re: phone blockers

I wasn’t able to find any in Hua Hin but bought two in Pantip Plaza at the ground floor market area. My brother runs a security company specialising in heritage buildings, mainly churches and civic buildings, he uses them to show how most wireless security products can be blocked by such things. I ...

This is very interesting article in Financial Times and Reuters, however they are mostly focused in the increase in buyers from Asian not Europe or US https://www.ft.com/content/5c3e125a-6de8-11e7-bfeb-33fe0c5b7eaa https://www.reuters.com/article/us-thailand-china-property/priced-out-from-home-marke...

Re: Electric Cars

For private owners who may only use a car locally electric would be extremely good here as the price of electricity is low. Even for farmers who do minimal km electric pick ups would be good.
Personally I do not think they will become too popular here.

That may be so however the vast majority of house purchases are by Thais not foreigners, so exchange rates only impact a small number of purchases.

Re: House market in Hua Hin

In 2005 we purchased a new house just off Soi 88 at the back of the lookout mountain. (3 br, 3 en suite bathrooms and one hallway bathroom about 300 sq mtr total with inside and nice outside kitchen, pool with spa, gorgeous woodland location, 10 min to downtown) We spent 8.5 mil on it and sold it a...
