Re: Proof of income for retirement visa

Also take what HD suggests as knowingly committing an illegal act if submitting a false notarized affidavit. If so, thank you for making it harder for the rest of us, when the numbers of those caught add up and they change the policy. I wish yanks had to verify, and I'm a yank. Also consider, this a...

Re: Huge number of police officers on Hua Hin beach today

Maybe others complained, when you possibly did not, and they are now taking action. One can only hope, now that someone took the time to appraise them of the scam.

They can't do it all by themselves. Police worldwide are public servants, but can't serve if not informed.

Re: Medical Insurance in Thailand or anywhere for that matter

This is pre-Obummer care and the only thing it fixed. Not really.......as friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer, and not a good one, expected to be terminal. With that diagnosis, the drop him that day. Which he was so grateful for, after a few years of premiums, being self employed. As it turned...

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

Am I reading that correctly? Hope not.... The global survey – involving a total of 2,003 online interviews with expats aged 25-59 That's a bit of a joke isn't it ? Global survey or 2003 people. 195 countries, so just over 10 people per country surveyed..... OK .... half the countries ...

I guess women cost more because of the plumbing. Tricky beasts!
Besides the plumbing inspection vs PSA, the added cost for wife was the mammogram.

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

Also get that 'full' medical check up every year or so, to catch anything in the early, treatable stage. Much better than any insurance premium payment as actually get something for it. Less than 10k baht every 12 to 18 months to make sure all is good. Just had it done, me 6k and wife 9k, I think. I...

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

If one doesn't have a cash reserve for any oops, then you're an idiot not to have at least some sort of health insurance.

If not, then again, you're an idiot for retiring in a foreign country with no security net. Just another 'fund my stupidity' waiting to happen.

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

I think you can live without a lot of stuff, but medical insurance is a must for expats. Agreed? NO Never had or ever will have a private coverage medical insurance. Only one job provided (13 yrs), and I used once for broken clavicle. Depends if you're accident prone and or good gene pool. But 40+ ...

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

For me, the biggest benefit is not living under the delusion I have any rights. Nice....... .......also love the basically no RE Taxes, or forced healthcare that doesn't cover anything. Yea, I'm a Yank. Too much PC and special interest groups in the ol' nanny state. Sorry life back there in the USA.

Yes, village fish sauce, if not cooked, and rarely is, or used to be, carries the same hazard, liver flukes. Sakon Nakhon has their own version, snails from the fresh water lake, and warnings signs, education about and teaching policy in the area, but yet, where's the highest incidents of......SN. A...

Cheaper than trying to fight them, and nobody dies...........win win.

One man's 'freedom fighter', is another man's 'terrorist'. A Thai problem, solved the Thai way.
