Re: British girl raped in Kanchanaburi

We all know the love of brits to be drunk. This girl wasn't alone. She was with a group and what about the responsability of those brits to leave her alone in such a pitiful state? I would wait until the facts come out before making comments like this. I'm a Brit and I was on that street on the nig...

Re: British girl raped in Kanchanaburi

Now being reported that two Thai men are in custody. Be nice to learn that Thai workers on that street gave police the information.

British girl raped in Kanchanaburi

Have just read that a British girl was raped in Kanchanaburi in the early hours of Tuesday morning, approx 01.30. This is particularly shocking to me because I walked along that street at about 01.00 as I was staying in a guest house on the very road that it seems she was abducted from. The posts on...

Re: RIP Richard Sabin - Passed Away This Morning

Never met the guy but could tell he was a real character by reading his posts. Lost my Dad earlier this year so I know how his daughters have been feeling, keep remembering him from the good times and tell your kids about him, that's how I manage it.

Re: Thaivisa Owner To Appear in Hua Hin Court

There is a news report posted on ThaiVisa this morning about a British girl being raped in Kanchanaburi, take a look at the comments on that thread and then judge the standard of so many of the expats in Thailand, and in particular the TV frequenters!

Re: Thai wife buying land

This new law was actually put in place to protect foreigners from being ripped off! It's very simple at Pranburi land office if both attend, sign the papers and in/out in an hour or two. Have seen it done a couple of times and nothing 'questionable' took place. Maybe we are starting to see a change ...

Re: Cheapest property in the best area

Buy in the area around Pranburi, Pak Nam Pran, Khao Khalok, Sam Roi Yot beach. Land prices are a lot cheaper than Hua Hin and for THB 8m you could buy 2 rai of land in your wifes name and build a stunning house close to the lovely beaches. Alternatively there are some really good quality new builds ...

Re: Hua Hin crime rate?

Hi, and welcome. As a couple you will be much better off living away from the centre, avoid the traffic, fumes and morons! Also agree about the 'farang compounds' being the most likely places to be targeted for crime, I sold alarms here for a few years and it was always these edge of town housing de...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip

The best greenskeeper I ever came across was at one of Englands finest seaside courses, Burnham & Berrow in Somerset, he told me that there was no reason for the greens to be in a bad condition after hollow tining for any more than 2 weeks so long as a good watering system was in place. Should a...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip

Played Majestic again on Wednesday and there is further improvement with the greens but still a way to go. Black Mountain, Banyan & Sea Pines are probably the exception but it seems most of the courses go through a bad patch and 2013-14 has been Majestics. A couple of years ago Lake View was in ...

Re: Hua Hin villa estates tips and tricks anyone?

Agree with malcolminthemiddle, personally I hate the walled in developments, did you really come to Thailand to live within a compound? I used to supply alarm systems and walls actually make security issues worse as an intruder is over the wall in 3 seconds flat and can then work in complete privacy...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip

I played Majestic again on Wednesday and the improvement in one week is very impressive, I expect the rain of the last two days will help even more. People can check my posts and will see that I was very critical of the course about 10 months ago as I felt the greens were deteriorating badly and yet...

If that is the area you like then you should look at Whitestone and Red Mountain also.

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip

I agree about the greens at Lake View being too severe, undulations on greens should be subtle in my opinion and a good approach to within 10-12 feet should result in a good birdie chance, not a 6' borrow and potentially a 6' return putt! Played Majestic on Wednesday and it was not as bad as I had b...
