Re: The Pros & Cons of Using Aircon

You maybe correct, but did you try suffering for a couple of days with just a fan? It's so easy to push the on button for the aircon, and one I couldn't resist for over 5 years. When I actually tried it, I didn't have a problem. That's my point in a nutshell, really - everyone's situation is differ...

Re: The Pros & Cons of Using Aircon

Surely this is not a question that can be generalised? What suits one person might not suit another. You've found yourself increasingly able to cope with the heat in Thailand, but for me it was the other way round. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that was one of the reasons (albeit a minor one) why...

Re: The Rugby Thread

Good results for Ireland (in particular) and Scotland, but not an auspicious day for England and Wales. Not much to say about England, who won comfortably without impressing. The Wales-Australia game was much more entertaining, but Wales blew their chance to win the game with some bad decisions, a h...

Re: Swedish restaurant or bar

Some Swedish and Norwegian friends used to take us to a Swedish restaurant in Poonsuk Road (I think) just behind the temple. The food was very good and the prices reasonable. Called the Sweden Restaurant, if I remember correctly.

Re: Thais rank low again at English

Most members of this forum live in Thailand, many are also married to a Thai woman. Who speaks Thai? Yes it’s very easy to criticise Thais in general, with their ability to speak English (or lack thereof), but I’m certain that it’s still a lot better than the % of English speakers who can speak Tha...

Re: Back in the UK after 14 years

Mr.VS and I have decided to spend the rest of our days back in England after twenty glorious years living in Thailand. We'll be leaving at the end of July next year, and would love to find someone to take over the rental of our house. You've given me some good food for thought, and I feel more conf...

Re: Phuket visa overstayers 'pay B100m a month in bribes'

Police are tracking down 142 foreigners said to be paying up to 100 million baht a month in bribes to local police for overstaying their visas in Phuket. That's an unambiguous statement, but it makes no sense whatsoever. Break it down with a simple calculation and it could be rewritten as "...142 f...

Re: Premier League 2017-2018

I don't think it was just the money, but the glory as well after being charmed by Sir Alex. :D I agree. Which manager in his right mind would have turned it down? However, he wasn't up to the job, and has been on a downward spiral ever since. No sympathy from me either. It will be very interesting ...

Re: The Rugby Thread

I don't know if it is the difference, but Australia has been improving each match since Moore stepped down as captain and Hooper took over. I guess we can test that theory during the upcoming Autumn Internationals. We'll also see if the All Blacks are entering a slump period? I hope not. :( Why? I ...

Man C win 7-2 and Guardiola is a happy manager, Man U draw 0-0 and Mourinho is a happy manager. Whose fans are the happiest?
To be fair, they're probably all happier than Arsenal fans.

I honestly think that if this is another barren season for the spuds, that the team will break up.
