Thailand Floods of 2018

Presumptuous on my part once again perhaps. Seeing that the hot season was unusually wet is perhaps a sign of a lighter monsoon ahead, or an ominous sign. We shall see. Pete

Re: Minivan, bus and road accidents

They seem to conveniently never state if these busses and vans that are catching on fire are liquid gas conversions. Should be a reporter "must ask" question when covering these events. I have no faith in the safety of that type of fuel system here regardless of who does the conversion. Pete

Re: Good Barber / Hairdresser

Finding a good barber anywhere in Thailand is like finding gold. Hang on to them! The problem often is that you go back to the shop at a point in time and they have left for greener pastures. :banghead: Pete

Thai schools just re-opened. They've lost a lot of visitors except for weekends now. But, I notice 1600 to 2200 hours, we can forget homework. Pete

Re: The Rugby Thread

..."On this side of world the Sunwolves finally won their first for the year against the Queensland Reds, 63-28 in Tokyo.".... A quote from a post of mine a week or so ago. These same Queensland Reds who were killed by the lowest team in Super 15 Rugby just played the Top NZ team, The Hurricanes, an...

In a month or two it would be interesting to see what the passenger load average is once the newness of it all calms down. Pete

Re: Govt crackdown on Airbnb, declares bookings illegal

It seems to me a quick, legal solution would be to make each rental period for 30 days regardless of the length of stay, and prorate the fee based upon the actual days stayed. It would limit occupancy to 12 contracts per year, but perhaps that's normal for many places? If selective a place may be ab...

Next season I plan on posting the below link after each week's matches. Anyone have a better idea, or better link (free) to give readers a video recap for the week? Pete

Re: Minivan, bus and road accidents

This is yet another subject where it's never stated if the owners of the companies who control these vehicles and drivers are held responsible. 46 pages in this thread and I don't think there is one reference concerning ultimate responsibility by the people behind the desks in the office. No mention...

Re: Electric Cars

The show I was watching focused on Sweden. They seem to be at the lead in Europe concerning electric vehicle use. The list of incentives for buying one is as long as your arm including free charging, free city parking, bus lane usage, free ferry passage and quite a few more. Pete

Re: Electric Cars

I just saw a show the other night showing that the Tesla, Nissan, Toyota are get 220-260km range in Europe, in pretty aggressive city and highway driving. This is not the pick-up, 4WD I was talking about above, just your normal electric sedans. Pete

Re: Electric Cars

What about pick up trucks which are used for hauling loads, and 4WD SUV's that are used off road. Do current electric engines have enough torque for these jobs, and does any major manufacturer have this type of electric vehicle in the planning? I guess the same question could be asked concerning pas...
