Re: Thai women second fattest in Asia

^ Yes, I looked high and low on several threads as I thought I had seen it posted before also. Couldn't find it. A bit dilution of the topic for sure, but interesting for a Friday evening. If I find the "old photo/video" thread, I'll move it. Pete

Re: Which Pick-Up Truck?

I remember reading they scrapped that "no riding in the back" law completely after an up-country uprising of complaints? Probably more accurate to say "a delay in implementation" which probably means we'll never hear about it again. Pete

Re: Which Pick-Up Truck?

^^^ It's the price and flexibility that sells to the Thai masses.

The bad thing is that the MIB love to stop pick-up's more than any other type of vehicle, especially if the back is covered. Just about every drug smuggling story I read in the papers has a pick-up involved. Pete

Re: Which Pick-Up Truck?

I agree about the Hilux/Ranger look-alike. The selling point for me would be build quality and service, both quantity of locations and staff quality. Very hard to beat Honda and Toyota service facilities here.

That kind of looks like a nice place to hang out in the shade. Maybe the beer girls and BBQ grills will be added later.

Kind of weird to have a hospital logo on a smoking tent. I can imagine BHHH may not even know how it's being used. Pete

Re: Renting A House In Hua Hin

"3. Who holds the deposit? Landlord or agent? Agent." I would be careful with this aspect. If during the term of the lease the agent goes out of business, you as the lessor would then be liable for the return of any refundable deposit to the lessee. Of course this would come out of your pocket as t...

Re: Tips for recycling and reducing plastic use in Thailand

Not really a tip, but an observation. I was thinking that when a kid in the 50's and 60's there was no such thing as a plastic trash bag. Things went into the outdoor trash can loose, and then dumped into the truck. Hosing out the trash can was a weekly chore. Sometime in the 70's the plastic garbag...

Re: Mold in buildings in Thailand

There is mold, and then there is mold. I think there are different types. One kind that causes homes to be evacuated and in some instances the structure torn down. I think these are mainly wooden structures with plaster board walls and wooden floors covered by carpet and linoleum. Then there is the ...
