Re: Thais & Facebook

This article mentions that, as in BB's example, a 'sorry' button would be a more appropriate option instead of 'like' now being used to express sympathy. There's also been a lot of support for having a 'Facebook free' day to see how the addicts would cope without it for 24 hours. http://www.independ...

Re: Need plumber to install above ground water tank

The water will stagnate and may become dangerous to use if left sitting for a long period. Just how long depends on several factors, such as how clean it was to start with, the type of tank material, shaded or in the sun, etc., etc. You could try K. Sang on 081 991 2677, or his shop, 032 51 1376. H...

Re: Need plumber to install above ground water tank

Let us know how it turns out - the weight is the main problem (apart from raising the empty tank) although 700 litres full will only be about the same as 12 Thais standing up there :)

Re: Electrician needed!

My wife can speak to a thai electrician. The important thing is that he does a decent job with no short cuts. It's an outdoor circuit I need for the jacuzzi I've ordered, so it has to be 35 amps or 2x20amp connection with a switch too so I can switch it on/off. Grounding must be done properly. I wo...

Re: Looking for an exterior painting contractor

I'm looking for an exterior house painting contractor who can be trusted to do a good job at a fixed price. Incidentally, is it usual for painters to avoid doing much preparation work, prior to painting? I noticed that they often paint over broken surfaces without sanding down. Much of the work I e...

Re: A "Healthy Tan" is an Oxymoron.

The damage is often done in childhood with many cases of skin cancer caused by over-exposure and sunburn only showing up 20-30 years later. Maybe because there was less education about the dangers when the baby boomers were being exposed to the UV rays.

Re: UK passport renewal has not arrived

I think you can renew whenever you like but you'll only get a maximum of an extra 9 months if applicable. Yes, that's correct - so no need to wait until approaching the expiry date - do it in advance any time you want when you won't be travelling for a while and is most convenient. If you happen to...

Re: Building a swimming pool

Building a swimming pool ? Advice : Don't - use one belonging to someone else - too much maintenance, costs and potential problems can arise. Also consider how much use you will make of it. Many homeowners report that after the initial novelty has worn off they seldom use their pool or it just becom...

Re: UK passport renewal has not arrived

Don't leave the renewal until the last few weeks of expiry as you can renew up to 9 months in advance and the expiry date will be up to 10 years 9 months ahead.
