Re: Pills for pets the easy way

We use peanut butter in the US. Much as I love my dog, she ain't getting any of my super crunchy peanut butter. I wrap our dogs pills in cheese, they like that. Your method sounds good, when I have pills to take, can I come over? Especially the bacon. You're very welcome migrant, but the bac...

Pills for pets the easy way

I've had pets all my life, and giving them pills can sometimes be a bit hit and miss. Cats, especially, have the ability to pretend they've swallowed them and then spit them out when they're out of sight. We recently had our semi-stray dog spayed, and the recovery involved antibiotics and painkiller...

Re: Thai women second fattest in Asia

Totally agree. When we first arrived here 20 years ago the majority of Thai women had fabulous figures (at all ages). I've noticed that about 25% of the students I currently teach have bigger bums than me - that certainly wasn't the case when I first started teaching.

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches, jail time for offenders

I think it's fabulous! Smokers now have their own little party area where they can sit in the shade, bring along their own beer and food, and not have to rent parasols or pay ridiculous prices for food on the beach.

Re: Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrency thread

It's quite interesting that we can read all the projected ups and downs of cryptos from experts, and all the ins and outs of what the various currencies are planning, but an unexpected African military coup or round-up of rich Arabs has quite an effect on the price of cryptos - especially Bitcoin. B...

Re: Thailand to England move

Seven Seas seem to be coming up trumps at the moment, thanks for the recommendations folks. We're not going to be moving any furniture or large items, just some books and personal stuff, so we're now trying to work out how many boxes we need. Looking at their site, the largest box is not th...

Re: The Pros & Cons of Using Aircon

Apart from the first 18 months here, when we lived in Bangkok, we have used very little air con in the house. Most of the houses, including our current one, were surrounded by trees and large gardens. We usually get a breeze coming through the house with all the windows open, and have a fan in the b...

Thailand to England move

Mr.VS and I will be moving from Thailand to England after spending 20 fabulous years here. Yes, we'll be sorry to leave for many, many reasons, but we're also looking forward to the next chapter in our lives. We're going to be moving next year on July 31st (as that's when Mr.VS's contract expires), ...

Re: Back in the UK after 14 years

Thank you, Norseman, for your lovely comments. I've only met you once (when we did the trip presentation thingy in Hua Hin) and hugely enjoyed your company. And thank you PH for the Sevenseas recommendation. A colleague of mine also recommended them for his wife's trip from the UK to Thailand. I don...

Re: Back in the UK after 14 years

Vital Spark, you could start your own thread, where you describe all the things you must and will do before the move and then how life goes on after your move. Will be interesting to follow. Maybe I should have done that a decade ago, too. That's a good idea, BG. Not only for selfish reasons in tha...

Re: TV series worth downloading

You know when sometimes you just want a short, funny programme to watch to kill 30 minutes, or give you a belly laugh. Here's the remedy: Harry & Paul . For the uninitiated that's Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse. A wonderful combination of two extremely talented entertainers. The series isn't new,...

Re: Thais rank low again at English

According to Wikipedia: ... in 2004 a British survey showed that only one in 10 UK workers could speak a foreign language. Less than 5% could count to 20 in a second language... Doesn't really make sense. If 10% can speak a foreign language, I would expect them to be able to count up to 20. :? Anywa...

OK, the house doesn't seem to appear on the map. We are almost opposite the Cafe Idea Box if you type in these co-ordinates on Google maps.

Re: Back in the UK after 14 years

Ah, yes, some wheels. Mr. VS has been positively drooling over what we can buy for under £1000! We obviously don't have a 'no claims' history for insurance purposes, and I guess we'll be paying more for that (in the first year) than the price of the car. As far as location is concerned, we're hoping...
