Re: Online Ordering - a sign of the times?

A nice positive story about online shopping. Mr.VS bought an electric razor online and it stopped working after about 4 months. It wasn't that expensive, so it didn't have a guarantee. He sent a polite note to the suppliers telling them about it. He got an email back saying if he sent it back, he'd ...

Re: Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrency thread

I know that this is a slightly serious thread, especially as we're talking about money, but I couldn't help thinking about the various types of people who are buying Cryptos at the moment, so I've come up with a few definitions. Feel free to add more: Cryptoists: The Shifter A possibly shifty person...

Re: Hua Hin is starting to look a lot like Christmas

Although I despise the commercialization of Christmas, I do love to see pretty decorations, and those are impressive. Twinkling lights just put me in a good mood (even though I can be bah humbuggy about Xmas).

Re: Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrency thread

But do you have a target of when you will cash in or just going with the flow and "hoping" it never stops going up, when the flow goes down so do you. This happened with gold to so many peoples loss. The quick answer to that, Steve, is 'no' (not a firm date). If I was a savvy investor and sat glued...

Re: Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrency thread

I'm glad I didn't heed your advice, Steve. Bitcoin's now trading at nearly 582,000 baht on the bx site. Nobody knows when the bubble will burst (or if it will). As I, and others, have said if you're trading with money that you are prepared to lose, then this is a hell of a lot of fun. Just hang on t...

Re: Driver’s licence health rules to become stricter

This is the same list used for work permit renewals. I have to have a blood test to check for syphilis for my work permit! I really want to say a sweary word here but for ****'* sake. If I had (and no I haven't) syphilis, how on earth would that affect my teaching abilities? The bunch of numpties i...

Re: Death of a Pet

I really, really, empathize with you Pete. Losing a member of your family, which is what Rocky was, can be difficult to deal with. I bet he had a great life with you, and your family. I've been in the same situation, and it takes time to adjust to them not being there, but it gets easier day by day....

Oh, for goodness sake...

Mr Thanya also said the department has ordered its national parks to offer an alternative way to celebrate -- with Buddhist prayer. (from the Bangkok Post article)

Not quite the same feel-good effect as having a beer or two.

Re: Astronomy, cosmology and space thread

I saw it last night. I woke up in the early hours and there was a yellowy light shining into the bedroom. Got up and looked out of the window and there was the massive moon - very low in the sky, and very big. Looked like a scene from Melancholia - I thought I was dreaming...

Re: House for rent in Nakhon Pathom

You're certainly not a hassle, and it's still available to rent in July. Yes, they did come and view the property, and although they liked the house and the area, have decided that they would prefer a single-storey property. If we can get round to it this weekend we'll take some internal photos to g...

All the Makros hat I've been to in Thailand have them. They're usually for sale at the cash till (hanging on a pole).

We will never, ever, buy an Acer again. We bought a notebook and it was trouble - the touch pad never worked properly from day one. Mr.VS said it couldn't be compared to an Essex girl because it had a mind of its own. He hates it so much he wants to throw into the nearest klong. :| The quieter, gent...

Glad you got it sorted, DM. But I did have to chuckle at the subject of this topic on the main page.

I thought you may have had problems with your, well, you know, number twos...
