Re: What is your Passion in Life?

I've always had a passion for anything with four legs (especially horses). My dream when I was younger was to live in a farm house and be surrounded by horses, dogs, cats, etc. Apparently, when I was a toddler I terrified my mother by wrapping my arms around any dog that we came across. She was conv...

Re: Bomb disposal squad finds device near soi 6 Hua Hin

Many years ago in Nakhon Pathom a bomb was found at the Social Security office not far from our house. There was a lot of activity and the cops were called. One of the cops was encouraged by the local press to lift the lid of the box for a photo shoot. Boooom!!!

Re: Trouble sleeping after Japanese food

Evening, Pete. I'm still wide awake too, but I haven't eaten Japanese food. I'm wondering if it's the event rather than the food. If I have a good evening with good company, and chat about a lot of things I find I'm still 'buzzing' when it's time for shut eye and can't sleep.

Re: Hundreds of foreigners/teachers arrested in nationwide operation X-Ray Outlaw Foreigner

So there are government schools employing people illegally? That doesn't surprise me in the least. I know of an American couple who worked for a school with a royal name, and the agency who employed them wouldn't get them a work permit. They, with permission from the school, had to skip out of the c...

Bit of a waste. If I don't like the taste of a wine, I'll use it for cooking.

... he had no reason groping her. Even if harsh, he got the lesson he deserved ... Speaking from a female perspective: a pinch on the bottom is not a grope, she is (I guess) a young lady that is used to being groped on a regular basis. She wouldn't have minded - it's part of the job. If he had stab...

Re: Electric Cars

I was born a petrolhead and I'll die a petrolhead, and I wish they would leave racing alone. Let people experience 100 years from now what internal combustion felt, sounded and smelled like. :D I'm with you all the way on that, Pete. We started watching the Formula E racing series, but I just hated...

You're right HHT - I think I misunderstood his intentions. However, he will surely have to find work with a Thai company to get the work permit - he won't be able (legally) to be self-employed. OK, Manu, I don't want to destroy your dreams. Perhaps you could contact the hotels or fitness centres to ...

Good, reasonably priced wine

Yes, I know, wine's a bit like art (or comedy) - what hits someone's spot doesn't necessarily suit another person. However, I will recommend a bottle of red that we picked up from Makro the other day. It's called Five Friends, and it's an Australian Shiraz (14%). It cost 250 baht, which is extremely...

Hi Manu, and welcome to the forum.

In answer to your question, sadly you cannot legally do that kind of work in Thailand (as a non-Thai). If you do decide to risk it, you also risk being arrested and deported.

Re: British home comfort food?

Hi Colin,
Villa Supermarket will cater for most of your needs, but you'll obviously pay a lot more for everything than your local Tescos in the UK. The only thing on your list that you might have a problem with is the chocolate - 'proper' chocolate melts too quickly here.
