Re: The Beer Thread

When back in the UK VS please don't be one of those out and about shopping for Thai beer! Pete  Absolutely not! I'm a real cask ale fan - so I'll hopefully get my fix at the local pub. We'll also have some home-brew I guess. I never drank lager until I came to Thailand, and am quite...

Re: The Beer Thread

Getting back to our local brew. My local wholesaler ran out of my preferred Archa so I was drinking Chang last week. I felt awful: tired, aching legs, and a little bit woosy during the day. I put it down to dehydration, but my colleague said that he felt the same. He bought some Changs from the loca...

Re: Tips for recycling and reducing plastic use in Thailand

We just throw ours in the garden. We keep a small plastic container on the the kitchen worktop and put any wet stuff in it. It never smells outisde because it dries up very quickly, and provides some nibbles for the wildlife. If you've got a garden, handdrummer, you could just create your own little...

Re: Looking for Rental

RCer: Have you had a look on line at the Salaya area? Lots of gated estates and new builds as it's within shooting distance of Bangkok. It's about half-way between Nakhon Pathom and Bangkok. There's also the new Central Salaya department store and Villa Market (on the opposite side of the road) in th...

Re: Usual cheating at the till, Big C Hua Hin

Do Tesco like them? I really dislike the stupid little coins and over the years have managed to collect quite a few. I had an hour or two to waste the other day and sellotaped them in to little piles of 5 baht and 10 baht. A grand total of 175 baht. Will I appear like a cheap charlie if I offer them...

Re: Pigeon Pie anyone?

Can the scrawny feral ones be fattened up with a bit of corn? I just think that the Thais are missing a trick here when it comes to getting rid of a nuisance, and at the same time having some meat to eat with their rice. It must surely be better for them than the artificially fattened chickens that ...

Re: Thailand's imported wine crackdown

^I agree with aragon. It's not just the wine, or a whine about the price of wine. It's being able to buy those little treats at a reasonable price. Yes, I can certainly live without wine, but I like to have a box of drinkable stuff for the odd occasion when a glass of red just hits the spot. The bes...

Re: Pigeon Pie anyone?

I'm puzzled as to why Thais don't eat pigeons. They eat what I consider the strangest food in some areas: rats, insects, snakes, etc., but haven't caught on to fried pigeon. They're also pretty easy to catch compared to other Thai 'delicacies'. I accidently caught one just outside the house when it ...
