Re: Nescafe

I use a a Philips Senseo, which is going out of fashion a bit in the U.K., but this means the pouches are very cheap. I brought a converter to use ‘real’ ground coffee so as long as it keeps going shouldn’t become obsolete as many of these things do. I’m sorry but I don’t drink instant, god knows ho...

Re: Weakspot in Thai house design, concrete flange above lower roof tiles

Would Sprayfoam roof insulation solve the problem (I’m not a builder)?

Re: Arrival to carousel time at BKK airport?

If I remember rightly there is small print on the Bell travel booking that implies you have to book the coach 1.5 hours after due arrival. You may be in danger of them not honouring the booking change if you are delayed if you book earlier than that.

Re: Arrival to carousel time at BKK airport?

On the 24/11 on Emirates landing at 6pm, I was at the bus check in at 6.50 for the 7.30 bus. I was the first off the plane and walked fast, stopped to use the ATM and the baggage claim was the usual belt. It can be done! But I would book the later one and if early you can pay B50 to change your tick...

The holes will have to smaller for mossies....555!

It was just a thought.....do I build something like in Florida or build a normal Sala and screen it. I was hoping someone had already done it and could advise the pros and cons!

Has anyone built a screened lanai or American style screened veranda

I’m looking at extending my outside space along the length of my house. Mrs N, who is Thai, attracts the mossies like no one I have ever met. I on the other hand am lucky that they don’t seem to like me. So, to maintain marital harmony it would be nice to build a fully screened area where we can sit...

Re: Tessaban Hua Hin, blue book to get ID card?

For those who live in large scale developpments in HH, did your developper take care of the formalities to get the yellow book? Yes, ours did. ok thanks for the info. I'll check out with mine if he can do so, but I recall he mentioned something like it had to go through Bangkok. That could have bee...

Re: train hua hin - cha am - hua hin

Yes and it’s crazily cheap! A friend uses it from Nr Palm Hills to get to HH and costs something like B2! Sorry don’t know the timings, but they are not very accurate anyway!

Re: Alcohol ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches?

I saw the same sign on a trip along the coast just south of Au Manao on a little beach we loved that had a small bar and a couple of shacks for food. Now due to the beach clearing the place is totally deserted. OK if that’s what you want, but spoilt it for us and many local businesses. So we continu...

Re: Hua Hin's Finest (police in Hua Hin)

Sorry to be pedantic, but like most of us we have got used to seeing the payment as a fine. The minimum true fine for no helmet is B500 and both passengers are required to be wearing one. Anything else is a bribe and needs to be seen as one.

Electric off tomorrow in Pala u Rd/mon mai areas

Mrs N has just said there was an early morning announcement on the local loud speaker things that seem to have sprung up since my last visit, that the electric will be off tomorrow from 8-4.
Anyone else heard anything?

Re: Hua Hin's Finest (police in Hua Hin)

Also from my experiences here in HH, most of the ‘real’ policing is done by plain clothes guys, of which there are a huge amount all around us at any time.
