Re: Minivan, bus and road accidents

The rules also require vans to have an emergency exit that can be opened from the inside with a visible, reflective Thai sign identifying it, a 20 centimetre-wide walking space to reach the emergency exit and at least three glass-breaking hammers on the left, the right and the back of vans. Obvious...

Re: Number plate replacement

Quite right Pete. Although I was guilty of it by rising to the bait. Now who veered the subject 'off topic'? I wonder ........ mmmm. Par for the course. Regarding replacement number plates, although I've never had to do it, a friend of mine did. He said that something which should be so simple turne...

Re: Cocktail bars

IMHO after travelling the world, East is one of the best when it comes to quality on the cocktails! Hilton, nice view but poor quality on the cocktails. I really don't know many other places in Hua Hin which serves great cocktails, but I would presume that the large and famous resort hotels may hav...

That often comes up. Usually an ad to buy 'switch off tracking' software. All the 'warnings' I'v seen are linked to buying something!

Re: Warning for Betternet VPN Users

The reason I ask is that I've downloaded over 1,000 movies without using a VPN and never had any warnings except on the download sites advertising various VPN's. I use a VPN to access blocked sites (The Daily Mail until recently) and to access 'catch-up' TV programs in the UK.

Re: Warning for Betternet VPN Users

Question: Does anyone know of anybody being caught downloading or streaming movies etc using their real ISP? I've never heard of it happening in Thailand.

Re: Medieval investigation in Thailand

This news came out a week or so ago and once again it highlights the ineptitude of the authorities here. Coroner's reports, DNA results, police investigations all have no credibility.

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

TK's has apparently drained away so the pool match is on.

I had occasion to go to Cha-am today and was surprised to find the road is still badly flooded in parts, some covering all 3 lanes!

Re: Best "free" film/TV streaming sites?

I've been using HDPrime since it started. A little cheaper than expat and has several hundred channels with 'catch-up' on the main ones, movies online (and they're bang up to date) plus loads of series (box sets). If the series you're watching is current, the latest episode is added within a couple ...

Well that storm certainly woke me up. Haven't seen one as spectacular for ages. Quite fun really and unlike some unfortunates, our power stayed on....... so far!

Re: New drivers must take longer theory training

Current driving licence (expiry date 24/12/17) That highlights one sensible change. It used to be the case that you couldn't renew until your 'current' licence had actually expired and you had 1 year to renew without having to start from scratch. It is sometimes worth while to allow your licence to...

Re: Thailand to England move

I understand that VS is looking for someone to 'take over' the rent. I gather rent is paid to a landlord so it wouldn't be in their interest to leave furniture for the profit/benefit of the landlord.

Re: Charging for plastic bags in Thailand?

There are 'bottle bins' and separated bins dotted around. I'm told that the Thais do use them properly. Maybe not enough of them though.

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches, jail time for offenders

The named beaches are only during the initial 'campaign'. From February 1st ALL beaches come under the law. Or so it was stated!
