Re: Thailand floods of 2017

They have opened the dam. It's not an assumption. They've publicly stated it and the volume of water being discharged hourly. The last report I saw was for Thursday when it was reported the dam is releasing 350 cubic metres of water per second. Since Monday it's been released at 290 cubic metres a s...

Re: 2018 Rolls-Royce

Ok, I give in. You are an individual who will NEVER change their view regardless of the evidence. You sure you're not Thai and worried about 'losing face'.

Re: Police checkpoints in Hua Hin

I did say that paying the fine was the easier option. The points system in Thailand is loosely based on other countries. Penalty points vary from 10 to 40 points depending upon the severity. Hitting 60 gives you a 90 day ban. I do believe the system may have changed where a licence starts off with 1...

Re: 2018 Rolls-Royce

Historically, I would agree with you. But BMW have been supplying the engines and other components to both Rolls Royce and Bentley (now owned by VW who now use their own engines). For the last 20 years it's been wholly owned by BMW while VW own Bentley. Still an outstanding car but less and less of ...

Re: Thailand floods of 2017

It depends a lot on when the authorities close the sluice gates on the dam and that, of course, depends on reducing the levels to a safe margin.

Re: Police checkpoints in Hua Hin

I wonder what will happen if the government get their way and move most of the police powers to agencies as announced! It will rob the police of most of their 'earners'. I'm sure the police are going to fight this one. Traffic control to the municipalities. Economic crime to Customs and Excise. Envi...

It used to be a proud part of British manufacturing but, sadly, no more.
So it's no good any more?
Not what I meant. Of course it's an exceptional car, just not truly British any more.

Re: Police checkpoints in Hua Hin

The police chief in BKK has recently banned the police from setting up these 'checkpoints' as they cause greater traffic problems than the norm. He's basically told the police to get off their backsides and tackle moving violations but of course that would mean they have to do real police work. A sh...

Re: 2018 Rolls-Royce

Yes, Jamjar. As I said in the other thread, it's not British engineering any more. Wholly owned by BMW ag (Germany) who have supplied the engines for years now.

Re: Police checkpoints in Hua Hin

80% farang and 100% motorcycles. I passed that police checkpoint yesterday on the opposite side of the road travelling to Hua Hin. If it was only M/cycles being pulled over then why were cars backed up in two lanes almost to the traffic lights by the Tessabahn. If it was just bikes, then the vehicu...

Re: Police checkpoints in Hua Hin

The main thing is keep legal and don’t show attitude, just pay your fine with a smile, and the fine is usually a few hundred baht the price of a few beers no big deal, its all part of living in Hua Hin, and much better than the points system they have in uk  If you're legal then DON'T pay a...
