The R and the V are a problem when it comes to the locals pronouncing things in English correctly.

HHTel...surprised they didn't call you "Telly"....haha
That was one of the options before getting to Charlie.

Telly - Tully - Chelly - Challee - ....ok that'll do!

Re: Disability Parking Permit

I'm quite pleased that most major service stations have disabled parking near the toilets which also have a disabled facility. Not for me but a boon when my mother is visiting. However, I'm a little bemused that a pink parking space has appeared next to the disabled ones for women only. Does that me...

Re: Name calling in Thailand

My name is Terry. When I first met my wife she tried desperately to pronounce my name. The nearest she got was Charlie which I admitted 'will do'. More than 20 years later and all the family call me Charlie but when my wife speaks of me to others, she uses my name Terry (She finally learnt to pronou...

I'm not sure whether you're playing "Devil's Advocate" or are genuinely stupid. If it's the former then you do it well.

However, post what you like. I will not rise to the bait any more.

Re: Buddhism in crisis?

Buddhism doesn't fit neatly into either category of religion or philosophy. When people asked Buddha what he was teaching, he said he teaches "the way things are." He said nobody should believe his teachings out of faith, but instead they should examine for themselves to see if they are true or not...

Re: Retirement Visa Extension

Have to give HH immigration another 'thumbs up'. Did my retirement extension today. I arrived at 2pm and was back in my car at 2:15 with everything done.
Legal for another year.

Re: Buddhism in crisis?

I'm agnostic so not really religious but I do respect other people's beliefs (as long as they don't ram it down my throat..... i.e. Jehova's Witnesses) and most, in turn, respect my right not to indulge. Just because you're a non-believer doesn't give you the right to sh*t on other people's beliefs....

Re: Pies in Hua Hin

Yes I know they are here at 5 times the price. (they're a quid in the UK) The steak and kidney pies have literally hundreds of complaints. I'm not the only one. My daughter took a picture while she was here and sent it to Fray Bentos along with the picture on the tin. Not at all the same.

Watch maker/repairer

Does anyone know of a watch repairer in Hua Hin. I'm talking a proper watch - pocket watch with a winder! I have a pocket watch that is around 40 - 50 years old. It's always worked fine but as of late it's decided to stop every few minutes requiring a shake to get it going again. Probably needs a cl...

Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin

I used Kwality soon after it opened for a take-away. When I got home with my daughter, the order was wrong and some items missing. Yes, we had to wait a while. It was a time when there were floods all around so couldn't be bothered to go back. Maybe I'll give them another chance based on reviews here.

So you don't respect any religions! Not surprising that nobody respects you then.
