Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

For what it’s worth, the following is just my opinion. I cannot see how it is possible to calculate a ROI; there are just too many unknown variables. Sizing the system and ROI calculation was kind of easy for myself. Just took our largest PEA bills, and made sure the system was enough to provide at...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

Don't know if I'm allowed post a link, as I can't post HH forum links where this info is.

BUT ... if you Google this "Solar - 8kW Hybrid Inverter w/10kWh (upgraded to 20kWh in Sept. 2022) ESS/battery (not DIY)" ... I'm pretty sure you can find it, and that's our experience with solar.

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

^ But where's the bit that includes initial cost(s), devaluation, cost of replacement battery pack etc? Just saying  :naughty: Obviously with all vehicles, that's make/model & location dependent. Initial cost ... TH ... basically the same for better value IMHO Devaluation ... TH ... unkno...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

I may not agree with your views on EV ownership @2/cb but I of course support your right to post your views . 👌👍 I don't, as his opinions are misleading and based on nothing but his bias of all things BEV. If someone was to recommend Toyota, most would state they have a solid reputation and you can...

Re: All imported goods now face 7% VAT

Whenever I order from Lazada I look to see where it is coming from, most of the time if it says overseas it will be China and I don't order. I look for a local retailer or not at all. Mainly because of time constraints. Much improved from days past. Last item ordered, a camera, ordered 16th in the ...

Re: All imported goods now face 7% VAT

No real surprise there, as enjoyed tax free for so long and actually surprised it wasn't done years ago. Just hope the keep the VAT discount at 7% and not go to 10%. They're learning from the west/G20s, tax everything you can, as much as you can, while you can. Tax Spend Pocket, Tax Spend Pocket, ri...

Re: Speed Cameras

I can think of at least 500 X 2 reasons why.

Maybe there's a couple busy side sois entering Phetkasem. Another heads up, if in the 120 kph zones, and you see the 90 kph posted for upcoming U-turn, you need to slow down, as reading they've been enforcing that lately.

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

I'm glad you highlighted this problem with grid tied inverters and power outages because I wasn't aware of that. I've been having a read on the net and it seems a second inverter is a cost effective way of at least having power during the day. I'm looking at solar on my partners shop and I'm not su...

Re: Making a good stew (Beef or other)

I miss the only "real" stew on the list - Lancashire Hot Pot. But seriously that is a very bad list, it doesn't even contain Goulash which is one of the best stews in the world. TasteAtlas ... before lists being posted on forums, I've never heard of them, so do wonder who is doing the vot...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

Couple thoughts of recent replies about ROI. I don't think we use any more since we have solar, although I state we abuse the AC a lot. Do think we use it more than many, and probably less than many, and it's on whether we're in the house or not, unless out of town of course. No different usage when...

Re: Making a good stew (Beef or other)

No argument from, as a Massaman or Thai Curry (green or red) is first choices when dining at Thai restaurant. Non Thai, hard to beat a good beef or pork stew, and just polished one off last night at the house.

Been making Japanese Curry lately, and S&B Golden Curry cubes make it too easy.

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

The replacement cost of panels also needs to factored in to cost benefit calculations. Last time I looked (and it was 7/8 years ago), the panels would need to be replaced after around 9-11 years. It’s clearly a few years ago and I’m sure the whole solar game has changed a lot since then . But I’m a...
