Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

I am beginning to believe that these people post stuff like this just cover their ***ss. Then in the unlikely event that there is heavy rain / floods, they are covered! From the synoptic chart issued this morning the "storm" is just an area of low pressure(1002hPa at the centre) with maximum winds o...

This video will give an idea of the Thai physique in the past. Pete
What make of camera did you use to make that, Pete?

I notice that they had electric trams pretty early on. Even a couple of old Series 1 Land Rovers!

Re: Which Pick-Up Truck?

And Thai law permits up to 5 to ride in the back. At least, that was the announcement from the ministry of silly ideas back in April. Was that before or after they banned ALL from riding in the back? They also have a seat belt law, so how is that applied? My ancient Land Rover is registered as 7 se...

Re: Which Pick-Up Truck?

Additionally, I'm allowed 5 people in the back, so I have a 10 seater vehicle. Great for taking the dogs to the beach. The last thing anybody would call me is fashionable I am a bit confused by this. How do you get 5 people in the "back"? I thought that you had a double, or dual cab, which has fron...

Re: British Community’s Annual Ploenchit Fair

It has never been the same since they stopped holding it in the grounds of the British Embassy, where the name comes from. A day out there would just about guarantee that you would run in to someone that you had not seen since the last one. :(

Re: Tips for recycling and reducing plastic use in Thailand

Solution?...no idea, except for the plastic industry to assure that these large bags are biodegradable, but I don't know how they could do it and still enable it to carry significant weight inside. Re: The Pros & Cons of Using Aircon

Also interesting about the temperature the aircon drops it to. In our living room, the remote has a built in thermometer. It rarely achieves the required 26C, and will often hover around the 28C mark................. And there is the reason why your electric bill gets so high. Several reasons why t...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

It is not really practical to run anything, pump or otherwise, direct from a solar panel. The output varies too much with varying levels of sunlight, so a battery is necessary to provide a stable supply. Not sure how you arrived at the pump requirement? Although it is just a simple pond that you wan...
