Re: Thailand wins for worst traffic in world

I'm not surprised. Thailand seems to think smaller is better and that causes bottlenecks and congestion because the roads are too small and can't handle the high volume of traffic and Thai people have too much pride to hire a foreign urban planner/planning firm and too much pride to take advice from...

Re: The Phuket property nightmare (Could be anywhere)

"GET real if you think any govt will allow wealthier foreigners to come in and buy property (best properties too) when the average thai cant even afford it. Again, think if it was the reverse for your home country. What benefit do you think it would serve the local thai if they protected the f...

Re: The Phuket property nightmare (Could be anywhere)

SteveP....reread my original post. It was about more than your narrow interpretation "Also this thread is about being nastily ripped of by a Thai wife, not government rules on property ownership" according to a FARANG's view. like i said if the chinese and thais or middle easterner were r...

Re: Electric Meter Box

So Today, I am having to replace a DOOR KNOB! Because my girlfriend has broken the door knob. I lived in the U.S. my entire life and I have never, not even one time seen someone BREAK A DOOR KNOB ! My girlfriend actually broke the door knob on our apartment in Bangkok, so this is the second time I a...

Anyway, at least Nestle will see profits surge once Durian Kit Kats hit the market.

:agree:

Sounds disgusting.

Re: Why do expats settle for horrible relationships with Thai girls who hate them?

I know two older couples on mu soi that fascinate me-- the husbands are Euriopean and their englishi s VERY basic--the wives are Thai and their English if anything is even more basic. But, their common language is English. One advantage they couldn't possibly have a fight, their English isn't good ...

Re: Why do expats settle for horrible relationships with Thai girls who hate them?

Whilst I'm not really in agreement with the sweeping statement which is the title of this thread, I do see many odd couples that perplex me as to how they got together and have stayed together. I am also curious as to why so many foreigners take the grandma style type of girl that couldn't pull of ...

Re: Electric Meter Box

There are some positive things that have happened. We have a new 7-11 that opened about 2 years ago, and the road to our house has been paved with concrete(before it was just a mud/dirt road). The road is very new and was built about 4-6 months ago.

Re: Why do so many Thais look down on tourist / foreigners?

racism is everywhere although it's really colorism. everyone looks down on someone who is different color. But the Japanese, Chinese and Koreans hate each other and each one believing they are superior. The differences are very subtle and their skin colour is the same! The Japanese, Chinese and Kor...

Re: Why do so many Thais look down on tourist / foreigners?

You ask--Is there some kind of racism going on? Of course there is. It is part of Thainess. In all fairness this is not justa Thai thing but an Asian thing--they feel no shame at having and expressing racist/xenophibic attitides-- In Japan, Korea and China it is much the same. :agree:  :thank...

Re: Electric Meter Box

My question is: Has anyone ever dealt with this kind of situation before? LOL, we had to wait weeks. However, when we moved in, the house was plumbed straight into the main, without a meter. I must admit, I was a bit concerned the day they arrived to install the meter, because we'd been stealing el...

Re: Electric Meter Box

What exactly have you spent 150,000 Baht on? Are you buying a power station to personally supply your box? No, I'm not buying a power station. The PEA came out to the house and installed the Electric Meter Box yesterday and as expected all HELL broke loose. The Amp switches in the breaker box were ...

Electric Meter Box

Let me start off by saying that the past 3 weeks have been like a War for me, and War is Hell. I have been trying to get the Power Company (PEA?) to install an Electric Meter Box on the electric power pole at my house in Nakhon Nowhere. Right now the house is siphoning power from here relatives hous...
