Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
I went this morning to renew my O-A visa but I was not succeed as I did not have "Thai person guarantor". I live in my Thai friend house who does not live in this province. I have Thai ID card, which, I was thinking, is good guarantee and, Yellow Book. However, it did not impress immigrati...

Road accidents: farangs guilty by entry (to Thailand) - truth or myth?
I have heard many shocking stories about road accidents involving farang and Thai drivers. The shocking parts of the stories were that the guilty verdicts were always against farangs, even when Thai drivers were obviously wrong. The police/judge explanation was: 'If you would not come to Thailand, t...

Re: Insurance required for all retirement visas.
I wonder why covid requires separate insurance. Why flu and food poisoning do not require? Any medical insurance has hospital room and medical services covered.

Re: Health insurance now mandatory for long-stay foreigners
I did my renewal in December without any mention of insurance or anything else. I was asked for my address twice even though it was on the paperwork and I had also written in on the accompanying map (must have been my turn for the grumpy one that day 555). Was your renewal based on retirement or on...

Re: Health insurance now mandatory for long-stay foreigners
I activated my O-A visa in January 2013, and have been renewing it annually every year since then. When I leave Thailand I always get a re-entry permit before departing, then the immigration officer at Suwannabhumi Airport stamps the re-entry permit when I come back in to Thailand. I left Thailand ...

Thanks I activated my O-A visa in January 2013, and have been renewing it annually every year since then. When I leave Thailand I always...

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
Thanks Sateeb. I remember they had photo service there. Can I still get that passport size photo there when I go to apply for extension?

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
As others have already experienced and reported, I took the following: 1. Photocopies of relevant passport pages (details page, the latest extensions over the past 6 years and the departure card). They weren't interested in anything from the old passport, including the original visa from Penang 11 ...

Re: Health insurance now mandatory for long-stay foreigners
Ok, here is the current reality at Hua Hin Immigration. Today I successfully renewed my permission to stay based on my original Nonimmigrant O-A visa. After submitting my application for Health Insurance, it was a little over a week to hear from the Insurance company with a proposed policy, which I...

Re: Health insurance now mandatory for long-stay foreigners
I renewed my non o retirement visa yesterday, and mandatory health insurance was not mentioned. As far as I know it is not compulsory for a Non O retirement style visa. The money in the bank is mandatory. Non o retirement visa is not Extension to stay. Did you apply for that when your other VISA (w...

Re: Health insurance now mandatory for long-stay foreigners
It’s BUPA worldwide would this not be accepted? well...I'm in the same situation. I read in internet that Allianz (not Allianz Ayudhya) policy was rejected by Immigration. I am with Regency International and have 400,000/40,000 certificate but, Regency is not on the TGIA list. Can't cancel, can't g...

Re: Health insurance now mandatory for long-stay foreigners
I’m caught up here. I am due to do my extension of visa on an original O-A visa. I have inpatient cover through BUPA. Just renewed earlier this year. I have no outpatient cover as advised not needed as costs were cheap. Just spoke with BUPA - I cannot cancel my BUPA cover until it’s renewal date,!!...
