Re: Soi 80 Walking Street?

I can report that Soi 80 is a walking street every Wednesday, not all of it is cut off though. About 1/4 of the way up to 3/4. They have music and I would say it works very well. Works very well !!! For whom ??? Some of them, most are not happy with this. Sorry, I was being selfish. Works fo...

Re: What is your favorite bar and why ?

Almost all of the Bintabaht section seemed to have adopted a buy me dlink attitude, no problem buying a drink but thats more or less all thats on offer down there at the moment. Found soi 80 much more fun and particularly enjoyed Hua Hin Bar... Is this recent? So sad as I am there this time next we...

Re: Aussie Talk

G'day, this thread seems to have died like my ill-fated music thread. Wonder if I can revive it. I have finally ditched my illusional dream of ever learning Japanese, in this life anyway! It's a 24/7 enterprise. No more time for Facebook or anything else. Also you have to live in Japan for some tim...

Re: Hua Hin Beach Polo 2017

I'm sure it's just an accident that the English translation says it's 1500 but the Thai says it's free. That happens a lot.

Re: Shingles Vaccine problem

Experienced and still experiencing the joy of shingles. Mine happened during a burning the candle at both ends for a prolonged period at work. Double pneumonia at the same time...shingles was on my head and neck. That was 12 years ago...now if I have a stressful time (I have teenage children) get th...

Re: recognised

There are a number of countries that don't care where the offense is committed, they will chase you down. Not sure if UK is one of those.

Re: Hua Hin Beach - experience

I for one enjoy the time I spend under the jail like atmosphere of the umbrellas just beyond the Hilton. Chairs not perfect..."I'm not in Kansas any more" big woop Lockout look - shade is good and the breeze is fine Company....take the time to have a chat to the deck chair owners, they are interesti...

Re: Is Hua Hin safe anymore?

The ratio of good vs bad things happening after midnight reduces rapidly in any city. Personally I'm happier out late in Hua Hin than Melbourne

Re: Looking for a bar...

Hi teddyboom, I wish you luck and please let me know if you find one. The problem may be the time of year that you are visiting - May. This is typically part of the low season in LOS where there are generally less customers...and as a consequence, less services available. The pool tables at least sh...

Re: Coco Beach Club

Prices were high, but the quality was excellent. So here is the question --Is there a big demand for high quality/high priced food. I suggest you go to the Soi 88 night mkt and see the multitude of expats happily eating their 100b dinners Love the night market....will be going there in early April ...

Re: Hua Hin Beach - experience

Thanks for the replies. I was there July last year enjoying the umbrellas. Stayed at the Hilton, went out their beach stairs and about 100(?) metres along to the right. Probably about 5 sets of umbrella/beer/food vendors back then.

Hua Hin Beach - experience

Hi all, I'm in Hua Hin early April for 5 days and planning among other things spending a good many hours under the umbrellas on the beach. In the past I've gone down past the Hilton exit and turned right and taken the second set of chairs....much to the consternation of the first set. Any recommenda...

Re: Old habits die hard!

I can relate to what you are saying but in a different way. I love the weekends...even more than when I was working, the reason is that they are now totally free of chores. When I was working the weekend was for mowing the lawn, odd jobs, shopping...they were so busy. I make sure I get all this done...

Re: When was your first visit to Hua Hin?

I've been 3 times. Once on my own 2011, once with my family and parents 2014, and once with my and another family 2016. Great times all three. Heading back again at the start of April (on my own). Can't wait.

Maria, you've gotta go!
