Re: Death of a Pet

I'm very sorry for the loss of Rocky. We have lost 2 of our 3 this year, it's tough! Regards Holly missing him, when we had two cats and one had to be put to sleep, our vet recommended that we let our remaining cat have a look at her dead 'brother'. I found it quite strange (to say the least). But s...

Re: Driver's licence health rules to become stricter

as well as empty hospital car parks, the roads should be empty as well. The W.H.O estimates high blood pressure to affect 20% of Thai women and 25% of Thai men over the age of 25 (compared to slightly less than 1 in 3 worldwide)

it's one way to tackle road congestion I suppose

Re: Driver’s licence health rules to become stricter

I don't understand this at all. They surely can't mean every single person with high bp gets a driving ban? What's their definition of high? Surely if it's the same as any western GP's definition then that would include 50%+ of westerners over 50? Our roads here would be empty! And as for myocardial...

Re: Thai women second fattest in Asia

are Thai men getting fatter in similar proportions to the Thai women? I don't know if that made sense? What i mean is....well in the west it's both, right? Everyone is getting fatter, men and women. Is that the same in Thailand? Or are the Thai men staying slim and it's just the Thai women piling on...

Re: Cocktail bars

Many apologies I think I was still in shock over the father Teds romantic Irish breakfast/cocktail bar revelation No worries. I feel the same about Father T's. Fine for a pub, but not my idea (at all!) of somewhere special for someone special on special date. I would decapitate my husband if he too...

Re: Cocktail bars

The map wasn't for Father Ted's, the map was for Marrakesh (coming from the centre of town heading to Khao Takiab, go past the Intercontinental and it's about 300-400m further than the Intercontinental on the same side of the PK Road)

Re: Cocktail bars

On the subject of cocktails, I've noticed on my beach walks a poster for a "Cocktail Buffet" at a place called The Rock which I think is a hotel in Khao Takiap. I think it was something like 600bt for a couple of hours on a saturday evening. thanks for posting this, I will try it out next time we'r...

Re: Cocktail bars

hmmmm...Father Ted's.... Red Piano..... nice enough places to go for a drink or a bite to eat (Red Piano especially)..... but neither of them I feel are nice enough to be classed as "somewhere to take my girlfriend for a special birthday cocktail". Father Ted's is just a pub. But as we see from prev...

Re: Cocktail bars

if you like pre-dinner cocktails (we do) and enjoy a beach side setting ...try the beach bar at the Centara or the beach bar at Marrakesh. Both do 2 for 1 on cocktails with happy hours around sunset. I didn't like the Hilton rooftop bar at all, apart from the views. I also liked the McFarland House ...

Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin

When I have been there, they ask you what strength you want your curry using %age, so 100% would be “call the fire brigade my throats on fire” to 50-60% would be more like a Madras and 80% a Vindaloo - not sure what a korma would be? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That's a great tip, thanks! I'...
