Re: Places to visit in Hua Hin

I love markets so will definitely check out the Prachuab weekend one. Thank you hhinner. Bigboy, the market thread I copied in full for the last holiday, it was my "go to" doc for the whole holiday. Just read back through it and we (or at least I) went to all but one of the markets on it (skipped th...

Re: Places to visit in Hua Hin

Ok thanks Bigboy, we'll play it by ear regards the langurs. I will read (properly this time) your report on Cha-Am forest park. I just love the idea of friendly monkeys. And you're right re the action-cam thingy. Tried it out last night and while it works very well close up (will be good for the lan...

Re: Visiting the Animals at Kuiburi National Park

oh and as for photos.... I am going one better. Just bought a cheapo go pro (action cam thingy) that screws on to the visor bit of a baseball cap so I can make videos too. handsfree. Will be sure to post them! I hope I do get the elephants in and dont end up with 2 hrs of tree tops and skyline. hehe

Re: Visiting the Animals at Kuiburi National Park

My husband has been on a week long safari in Kenya, and he did get some photos of herds of elephants, but none as close as yours ... and his camera is a fairly good one with special zoom lenses and all that. (Incidentally, I think I know who you are as that day the colliery band played in Market Vil...

Re: Places to visit in Hua Hin

Buksida, those photos of the langurs are fantastic! Unfortunately, I don't think either of us would manage that climb up the big hill, my husband has a dodgy leg and I have chronic laziness. But we would manage a coin in the lamp at the wat. Will add that one to the to-do list. Pity about the big hi...

Re: Places to visit in Hua Hin

Bigboy, we were actually thinking about staying overnight at Ao Manao, in the military hotel. Only costs 1000baht per night in low season. I was hoping if we did that I could get to the langurs early and be able to spend more time watching/feeding them. I think what we'll do now is day one drive dow...

Re: Visiting the Animals at Kuiburi National Park

So that would make it, what ? aim to enter the park just before 4pm, right?

Those latest photos, are you zoomed right in with your camera in those ones, or are you actually that close?

Thanks again Bigboy, best info by far that I have came across for Kuiburi.

Re: Places to visit in Hua Hin

Ahhhhhhh, You have an Ao Manao trip report as well. Brilliant. That's on my to-do list too (together with the elephants at KuiBuri). Thanks Bigboy. If it get to see some elephants and the dusky leaf langurs I'll be very happy! Will definitely read through all your other reports too.

Re: Visiting the Animals at Kuiburi National Park

I had so many questions about going to see the elephants at Kuiburi, they're all answered now. The videos are great too.

Thanks for a great report, very informative!

Re: Dish Washers (Non-human)

prcscct, I have no idea about your question regards how common it is to fit dishwashers in new homes, but I thought I could share our retrofitting one, just incase you were thinking of doing it. we retrofitted one in the home we're in now and it wasn't a lot of work or expensive to have done. Basica...

Re: rough idea of electricity costs ?

huahin4ever, that's a very helpful response, not just for our upcoming holiday, but the details you give are just the type of details we need for our bigger "retire to Hua Hin" plan. Many thanks :-)

some of your posts come across as quite childish.

Re: rough idea of electricity costs ?

MD and MK are a tag team with MD being the fairer of the pair. She is the one who initiated the thread with apparent excitement and anticipation about their upcoming holiday. It's a happy time for them and I think she/they have enough info now. Let us know MD after it's over what the bottom line wa...

Re: rough idea of electricity costs ?

Wow some holiday your coming on. You spend thousands on getting here and back home then you want to spend time monitoring your electricity consumption and tinkering with a pool control system. I have no idea where you got the idea I wanted to a) monitor my electricity consumption or b) tinker with ...
