Re: Pies in Hua Hin

I am well aware that a real MM pork pie has to made by a registered Melton Mowbray bakery. Many bakeries in England make pies that look and taste just like MM pies but do not have the MM stamp. I am more than happy eating these. I also enjoy other pork pies. I have never criticized the pies from HHH...

Re: Pies in Hua Hin

The pie shop in Soi 94 also has good pork pies (not MM) as well as a good selection of other pies, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, etc.

Melton Mowbray Pork Pies

During my youth I spent a couple of years living close to Melton Mowbray (Queniborough to be exact). During that time I became addicted to Melton Mowbray pork pies. They are now available all over England and there are also some very good copies. I have tried the pork pies from every pie shop in Hua...

Re: Potential Retirement Location - renting in Hua Hin

Khao Tao is a lot further south than Khao Takiab. The end of Khao Takiab (The Breeze condo, edge of Sea Pines golf course) is 8 km from City center. Khao Tao is much further and much, much quieter (as far as shops, restaurants, etc. are concerned).

Re: Potential Retirement Location - renting in Hua Hin

There are three main areas. North, South and West. North is the road to Bangkok. I've never lived there but I would imagine the facilities are minimal (there are no shopping malls but the beech is nice). There are a lot of nice condo's along the sea. West of Hua Hin you move into the mountains. Ther...

Re: Potential Retirement Location - Hua Hin

Like everywhere cost depends on the location. Generally the nearer to the sea the higher the price. Your cost estimates are about right. There are many rentals available long term but remember going through an agent will cost much more than arranging a private deal. The area you choose depends on yo...

Re: One or 5 years membership at Hua Hin Golfclubs

Don't know about other clubs but can tell you the situation at Lake View. All Lake View memberships expire in 2023. What happens then is anybody's guess. New memberships are not being issued but a membership can be bought from a current member. The price will go down as 2023 approaches. The current ...

Re: Number plate replacement

I found my number plate. It seems that there is a page on Facebook that people use to say that they have found number plates. Everything is of course in Thai so you will need a Thai person to look into this.

House location now required by visa extension

Thai immigration have started asking for a map showing the location of your house. You can draw this whilst you are there (they will provide a blank sheet of paper) but it is much easier to take it with you. Google Maps or Microsoft Maps can be easily used to create this and you can keep a copy for ...

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin beach, jail time for offenders

I assume all these bad comments are written by the small majority of smokers who don't seem to mind the litter they leave and the discomfort they cause to others by blowing smoke into their faces or letting the wind blow it there. Well done Thailand bringing in a measure to help the large majority o...

Re: Golf Society seeking new members

After the festival ours guests get a 50% reduction on the green fee charged for non-members. That is normally about 2,800 (1,400 for our guests).
