Mold in buildings in Thailand

About two months ago mold was found in the apartment we live in. Today I got keys to a new one and withing next ten days or so, will move. Mold seems to be a big problem in buildings in Finland. How about Thailand? How common is it?

Re: Back in the UK after 14 years

Vital Spark, you could start your own thread, where you describe all the things you must and will do before the move and then how life goes on after your move. Will be interesting to follow. Maybe I should have done that a decade ago, too.

Re: Homes for old age people in Thailand

Also, everyone, please take note, my original question was more than a year ago. And yes, we are quite happy about the place where my MIL is.

Re: Homes for old age people in Thailand

VS, I agree, there are all kinds of places and not all of them are nice. In the case of my own mother here in Finland, it's been a great place. She couldn't survive on her own any more. Last Christmas, I had to more or less carry her to the bathroom about 5 times a night. Now she's in much better sh...

Re: Homes for old age people in Thailand

Over to you Bamboo Grove? I don't know if these different levels exist in Thailand and neither was that the purpose when I asked the question. My MIL has been staying in a kind of a nursing home in Chayaphoom. They've taken relatively good care of her. My own mother has been in a what Mags calls nu...

Re: Understanding Thai society and behaviour

Good post and good opening. However, I don't think this will be as popular as Dump, cryxit or where to find English mustard in Hua Hin threads in this forum. Of course these are much more important topics than the Thai culture or history.

Re: Thailand to the UK by road

The first hurdle could be China: You cannot drive with an International Driver's Permit (IDP) in mainland China; China has not signed the convention which created IDPs. You need a Chinese license to drive in China. (Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan issued licenses are not considered Chinese licenses). ht...

Re: Trip report: China 2017

This is the last part of my trip report, thanks for sharing this with me and for the comments. Problems in present day Chinese society Corruption Corruption is still a huge problem in China, even though Xi Jinping said he would stop the practice. But how can you stop a thousands of years old practic...

Re: Trip report: China 2017

Transportation Transportation both within cities and between cities was another thing that is so much easier nowadays in China. All the four cities I visited had metros and I only took buses two different times. In the old days unless you rushed and pushed and shoved among the other strap hangers, ...

Re: Trip report: China 2017

Food Western fast food outlets have found their way to China as well. McDonalds, KFC’s etc where common and they seemed to be in every place I visited. I guess I should have known this but somehow I had thought that China wouldn’t have let them in. Of course there were plenty of Chinese fast food r...

Re: Trip report: China 2017

Sounds I don’t know if other people remember well some sounds that they've heard during their trips or in their lives. I remember in 1987 when I studied in Guangzhou, the sounds of the trains’ whistles and the clatter of their wheels in the distance and also the voices of some night time food selle...

This is very true, and also the attitude that I can't learn stops one from learning.

Re: Trip report: China 2017

I spent my last week in Shanghai, mainly spending time in school and at home. During my last day, I moved to a hotel closer to the Maglev station because I had an early flight. After check in I took a bus to see the Yangze-river as I had spent the whole time just south of it. It was near were the ri...
