Re: The journey to a Yellow Book in Hua Hin

I’ve just checked and like you BB, my pink ID name is in Thai and yet my wife’s ID name is in English!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I have to say, I've seen this mentioned a few times now and it always strikes me as singularly odd. A Thai person gets their name written in English (and Thai, ...

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading

If anyone is as crazy as me and wants to watch the subtitled 30 part Chinese adaptation of Three Body download the VIKI WEBRip, not the AMZN one, as the AMZN subtitles miss whole scenes, like when an actor's thoughts are being spoken, and also words shown onscreen like computer screens, phone messa...

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

It's been raining for about an hour now down our end of town. It's steady rain, but hardly a downpour.

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

I currently have a standard retirement visa which does not allow travel outside of Thailand. I'm planning a trip to the UK next month and aware that I need to change my visa to allow exit and re entry. My question is do I need to book my flights before going to Immigration therefore having the date...

Re: Mustard

I developed a taste for Dijon mustard when I lived in France and have liked it ever since. It's the only kind that makes for a proper vinaigrette, IMHO.

This is the brand I usually buy here. All the main supermarkets sell it.

Re: Two women found shot to death in Hua Hin shop house

If a shooting incident can ever not be 'violent' it must be the second one. Not exactly a teenage street duel. I don't think you need to be scared to walk the sois. Not sure which one you mean by "the second one" but I don't see how either a shooting where one person was killed and anothe...

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

I just did my yearly extension of permit to stay (by reason of marriage) and although I've never found it particularly burdensome, this year it was actually a little easier than usual, due to slightly reduced documentation requirements. Firstly, no copy of TM6 required since they don't issue them an...

OK, then maybe the price given on Nany's Facebook feed was wrong, cos it definitely said 750g for 249 Baht. Probably a typo.

This is the pork pie, 780 grams at 249 baht
Those are identical to the ones sold in Nany's but very slightly cheaper. The last time they gave a price, Nany's had them at 750 grams for 249 Baht.

As I understand, it never was. They just used the name 'Banyan' and it's taken until now for the Banyan Tree organisation to decide to take legal action against them.

Re: VPN Recommendations and Discussion

Is anybody else having problems with NordVPN recently? I'm finding it no longer works with BBC iPlayer or ITVX on my Amazon Firestick 4K - although Channel 4, My5 and UKTV play still work. BBC iPlayer doesn't work on my Android TV OS devices either (can't use ITVX on those). It's also still OK on my...

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

Haven't we just had a La Nina (two years of rain and floods)? These cycles used to be spaced out coming every few years, but now it seems that every year is either one or the other. No, last year was definitely an El Niño year. As stated in the BBC article below: It has been confirmed that 2023 was...

Re: Hua Hin To Start Charging For Chatchai Parking From 15 Feb

Where has this been announced? It was in Hua Hin Today - possibly elsewhere, though I only saw it in HHT. The main info, I would say, was the following: The fees for parking near Chatchai Market, which is the main fresh market in the centre of Hua Hua, will range from 5 baht to 20 baht per hour, de...
