I will do a Go Pro/Dashcam comparison, and post the results here. I will use the short Market Village to Soi 88 stretch - there are always cars on that stretch.
That will be interesting. Not sure if you venture out at night also, different cams can have totally different results day or night. :)

Re: Poor choice of dashcams on Lazada!

... On the other hand I want wifi, and would like GPS. Not all cams have both. GOOD WDR is useful too (some cams seem to boast it but actually don't really have it). And I think G-sensor is not actually full 'parking mode' (i.e. constant time lapse capture). These options will drive the price range...

Re: Poor choice of dashcams on Lazada!

BB I never owned a dashcam so I am doing a lot (a lot) of checking up different specs and models. Checking around the web about a cam I like the look of and the spec of, I see sometimes they can be reported often as suffering from a specific problem. Bad plate recognition, overheating leading to fuz...

Re: Poor choice of dashcams on Lazada!

Thank all. The cost of the Blackvue mentioned above made my eyes water! I checked Lazada again and see there are two or three decent brands on there that I missed before. I'm not a very savvy online shopper. I'm thinking about THB 3-4000 for a good brand front only cam (two heavy duty 64GB SD cards ...

Re: Snakes in the house and garden

Headsup re snake catcher David Frolich, currently asking to be a lot more active (for a couple of days, anyway): "Some of you may know that I take callouts to come relocate venomous snakes. I’d like to ask everyone to please call me for ANY snake you have in your home / garden for the next 2 days. I...

Poor choice of dashcams on Lazada!

I want to buy a front facing dashcam and have seen several I like the reviews of on international websites, but Amazon charge a fortune for shipping plus estimated amount of import tax. These add about a third to the price. I don't know anyone coming to Thailand who can bring one in for me, and don'...

Re: Thai women second fattest in Asia

TBH I'm wondering if Thai men like their women on the solid side? Nothing wrong with that. The 'ideal' Thai woman (Western style thin straight nose, white skin, slim as a reed) as shown on Thai airline ads and as hunted for by Thai hotels for their front desks has never been my idea of a desirable T...

Re: Thai women second fattest in Asia

I think BB is right that sweets and snacks are the problem, with their unhealthy composition. Thai lifestyle is to eat all day, a little here, a little there. If you're buying veg and grilled food from a street cart then the food should be nutritious; if you're buying packets of snacks from a superm...

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

Well, that was some storm last night. I'm just back from the school run - there's a lot of surface water/underwater obstacles out there - be careful. 1) Good for the garden. 2) You run? 3) Yes slowly over standing water, especially on rural roads going out of town. Very scary how during h...

Re: Tax Residency

I would say that even if you pay no tax in Thailand you are resident here for taxation purposes. You maybe still be domiciled in the UK (that's a technicality which changes over time and also depends on many of your personal circumstances), but UK tax residency depends on things like how long you sp...

Re: The Pros & Cons of Using Aircon

It seems that either the germ factory of crowded airports or confined space of an airplane seems to be the best way for me to catch cold. It doesn't help that airplane HVAC delivers low humidity air. Dry upper respiratory passages are far easier to be infected than moist ones. I always fly with and...
