Re: UK shifts visas for Thai nationals to India

UK embassies do less and less each year. I think they are practically valueless for most purposes nowadays. In the UAE I had to go to the Indonesian or Malaysian embassy, or a Notary Public to get my signature on a purchase contract authenticated, or to verify a passport copy. The UK Embassy in Bang...

Re: Thais rank low again at English

I would guess it's the no fail scenario within Thailand. I have 2 very Thai granddaughters (one at university) who have excelled at school, and their English grades are excellent, yet I can barely hold a conversation with the eldest, and the youngest is a non-starter. OK, I'm no better at Thai, so ...

Re: Thais rank low again at English

you can go and F yourself for that! thai people no need your voice or your thinking, go back to your country! Get a life! So what's your take on why the teaching of English is so poor here? I wouldn't hold your breath for a serious reply. This person seems like someone who takes criticism of proble...

Re: Thais rank low again at English

Anyone else get an abusive private message like this one I received from a Thai who didn't have the courage to reply in the thread?: +++ [Mod edit: re-posting private messages on the public forum is not permitted] +++ I stand by my comment that most Thais are insular; they have little interest in th...

Re: The computer and software security thread

I right click the .exe and run the program as administrator. Is there something else I should be doing? I don't understand 'if protection is not available to be changed'. InSpectre says: -My 64 bit Win 10 is unaware of either of the two problems. It's fully updated though. -System hardware has not b...

Re: The computer and software security thread

Yes that's what I see. Win 10 is now fully up to day and system restarted but the buttons are greyed out and have been every time I've run InSpectre, so still are inactive. Weird.

I'll check their website tomorrow.

Re: The computer and software security thread

Steve Gibson* released a free Windows app that tests the vulnerability of your hardware and windows version to Meltdown and Spectre. If either is vulnerable, the app offers the choice of modifying the registry to fix that - and slow down the machine. When Microsoft has a fix, it too will slow down ...

No-one said it so far so I will.

Condolences for the needless deaths, and hoping that the remaining tourists recover.

Re: Naebkahart Road Restaurant???

I am told by my other half that it has a Chinese name, not Thai and Wenshidi is there or thereabouts as my other half came up with 'Jek Bier' but that second word is long with a rising tonal accent. That seems about right. The name is given on Google Maps with Chinese and English characters as: 正盛 ...

Would be a bit quick to diagnose Alzheimers I guess. Anyway he's been located and is safe which is all.
