Re: Nescafe

Have you guys tried a French Press. It is so easy to make real coffee. The capsule machines are another good but more expensive alternative. Used to use one long ago for dinner parties. For years we've owned a Siemens Surpresso coffee machine that grinds the beans and makes regular coffee and espre...

Re: Buying Paint

I'm sat here looking at a 6'6" doorway, and I'd estimate the ceiling is at least 3'6" above the door. It may even be 4' higher. As PeteC says, it's because of the need to circulate air in hot climes. You would never even get near the ceilings in our house in Dubai, you couldn't even reach the chand...

Re: Buying Paint

Just to close this one, the job was finished about 45 minutes ago. It took a little longer than expected due to unexpected interruptions, including 2 funerals. I am very pleased with the results (once I'd found the right paint). Would I do it again? Definitely not - Thailand is too hot for any type...

Guys, I just tried beer Chang with Clamato, I have to say it's utterly vile! :D
Just out of curiosity, how bored were you when you tried that?
It was all just in the fridge looking at me so I felt an impulse!

No saving graces anywhere. But I'll try anything once; twice if I like it.

Re: The scourge of Facebook

OK I do follow you, yes I think for a long time Facebook has been a marketing tool, open to use by the whole world of commerce for its gain. But I don't believe that software being used to direct advertising is the great evil. And it does help me stay close to people I don't see from one year to the...

Re: The scourge of Facebook

I could not agree more, Facebook and the likes are pure marketing tools design to draw you in and then entice you to buy. It is creating a brain dead generation of youth, and some older. What, like advertising on TV and in newspapers? You're not aware that specific ads are designed for both those m...

Re: Instant Messaging

The problem I see with IM apps is that there is no standard, each person and even country has its own preference - in Thailand it is Line and in the UK everyone is Apple mad. The two will not talk to each other which means that there is no cross compatibility and you have to use a bunch of differen...

Someone is finally saying what I've been thinking for a long time. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/lifestyle/30333758 Social media is destroying society, says former FB exec A former Facebook executive admitted that he feels “tremendous guilt” over his work at the social networking service t...

Re: Snake bites in Thailand - medical attention

Probably Hua Hin hospital has antivenin available, and possibly the Red Cross clinic, as I believe it's the Red Cross that produces the stuff. This web page is worth reading: https://www.thailandsnakes.com/tag/snake-bite-first-aid/ You mean Red Cross in BKK right? Or is there one in HH? Red Cross i...
