Re: The computer and software security thread

Yes that's what I see. Win 10 is now fully up to day and system restarted but the buttons are greyed out and have been every time I've run InSpectre, so still are inactive. Weird.

I'll check their website tomorrow.

Re: The computer and software security thread

Steve Gibson* released a free Windows app that tests the vulnerability of your hardware and windows version to Meltdown and Spectre. If either is vulnerable, the app offers the choice of modifying the registry to fix that - and slow down the machine. When Microsoft has a fix, it too will slow down ...

No-one said it so far so I will.

Condolences for the needless deaths, and hoping that the remaining tourists recover.

Re: Naebkahart Road Restaurant???

I am told by my other half that it has a Chinese name, not Thai and Wenshidi is there or thereabouts as my other half came up with 'Jek Bier' but that second word is long with a rising tonal accent. That seems about right. The name is given on Google Maps with Chinese and English characters as: 正盛 ...

Would be a bit quick to diagnose Alzheimers I guess. Anyway he's been located and is safe which is all.

Re: Naebkahart Road Restaurant???

I don't have a problem, you just seemed grouchy. Virgins and stormtroopers, you could probably sell tickets for a tour of your mind. Have a good weekend. :D Grouchy? I prefer to think of it as humor in the vein of George Carlin's 3rd career phase. He was like a harmless uncle who talked about his f...

Re: Naebkahart Road Restaurant???

Have a bee in your bonnet this evening Homer? :P What's your problem? I agreed that you correctly identifi...

I make a point of taking no notice of them at all and obey the lights.
Everywhere if a person is guiding pedestrians you have to obey him and not the lights. Here we have the robotic man of this forum.
So if I put on a high-vis jacket and tell you to cross you'll do it?

Don't tempt me....

Re: Missing in Hua Hin

As I live alone, I have a buddy system with another older ex-pat loner. We phone each other at about 9 every morning, if no reply we investigate. One or two false alarms, uncharged phons is the main culprit, but ita worth the trouble. That's good. Loneliness and financial worries are often killers....

Re: Foundation voids

It appears that the issue is not as serious as I had first expected. Basically since the house is relatively new, much of the garden and earth around the house has compacted, which has revealed some gaps between the garden and foundations. We have been advised to simply re-do the garden by applying...
