Re: Ex-communists pocket cash benefits in Thai amnesty deal

The biggest fighting occured around Phetchabun. It was stopped when the farmers/villagers caught in the middle told both sides to knock it off.

It started during the Viet Nam conflict and lasted for years. There is a museum/monument about it up in the mountains outside Phetchabun.

Re: Why can't Farangs stop complaing

Westerners have been visiting other countries, then moving to them and complaining about them for centuries. The chief complaint is how the place isn't like back home.

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

No education - how did they get their licences? Sat in front of a viewing screen showing them the answers to the exam, just before taking the exam. You and I both know the uselessness of rote memorization or cramming before an exam just to get a passing grade. Little if any information is retained ...

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

These are all longer term policies. I still maintain policing it properly, with real deterrents is the only thing that will work. At the moment, there is no deterrent except being maimed or killed. If that happens, it's because they were wearing the wrong amulet. I'm continually curious about the i...

I'm curious, where in the world is personal safety protected by anyone other than the individual?

I'd love to go there.

Love reports like this one. They are so full of BS and people actually believe them.

This report ranks right up there with the obe from the WHO about motorbikes in Thailand.

Re: Problems with gmail?

Couple of points. I too follow the advice of composing long or important things in word. I usually keep a copy in word until I know the email has been received. As for the format issue. If you are dealing with a business (agent), it is likely they are using an email client like Outlook and just send...
