Re: Weakspot in Thai house design, concrete flange above lower roof tiles

Get a narrow sheet of galvanized sheet metal, like used for roof flashing, to wrap around that power pole. They cannot climb past that. Tack it on if a wood pole or just cinch it on tightly with wire if its a concrete pole, but not so much wire to give them a foothold for easy climbing. If its a con...

Re: Weakspot in Thai house design, concrete flange above lower roof tiles

Also, they cannot walk upside down under a ceiling, like a gecko or insect, so would be difficult for them to get up past the eaves but they like to crawl thru pipes and tubes so can go up thru a downspout if your roof has gutters with downspouts that are not screened. Which is somtimes done to prev...

Re: Weakspot in Thai house design, concrete flange above lower roof tiles

Rats and mice can flatten their ribs and squeeze thru a very narrow opening. Easiest way might be to figure out how the rats are getting onto the roof. Are they climbing up those trees that are showing? If so, a narrow strip of sheet metal around the tree, like power companies put on their poles to ...

Re: Govt set to charge foreign drivers for using Thai roads

this is just another example of oneupmanship greed. wouldn’t it be nice if we could all raise our incomes so easily. road maintenance is supported by petrel tax that is paid at the pump. plus everyone visiting the country pays VAT on what they spend. then every Thai earning money from the visitors p...

Re: pool pump

Same problem last November. 10 year old Emaux pump = seal badly leaking due to steel shaft eroded. Bought new Emaux Pump model SB10, 1.0HP at ฿12000, total set of course, including motor, pump & strainer. The new one has Stainless steel shaft, was here next day & and was more than 33% cheaper than a...

Actually, when you read the notice the bays are also for the pregnant and elderly. Pregnant is easy to define, but elderly will be a very grey area."

Nice to realize this. My gf has been pregnant for about 20 minutes and she is really tired.

We are grateful to the usual suspect for making us aware of this nice place at the top of the hill. Name is Hunter Steak Restaurant = N 12.55555, E 099.92950 Did not think to ask what hours they are open. We had a large breaded fillet of fish with a small genuine salad, not just a piece of lettuce t...

Re: Need engineering ideas - launch for a boat

700 - 800 kg is not a very large boat. With engine, fuel, & other gear aboard, our 5 meter boat, built by the man alongside the highway in Thap Sekae is more than 700 kg, not including the trailer. As you are only talking beach launching a light weight 4 wheel carriage would be more efficient and pr...

It does not matter - you were drunk and obnoxious in public and cussing at the cop - and sound like you are still drunk

The cop was too nice. He should have arrested this clown instead of letting him back out onto the road with the possibility of killing somone like you or me

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

Like Nereus said, your primary issue is an inverter and a battery bank with minimal solar or whatever charging method you choose because you will kick it with the grid. Actually, if your outages are not long lasting you may only need batteries, an inverter, and a small but well regulated conventiona...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

You possibly also need a good automatic voltage regulator for your other stuff - TV, sound system, lap top & iPad chargers, etc. Evidently not available in Thailand, PM me - I will tell you where to get one. We had same problem, surges, spikes, outages. Cooked power supply on my Mac Book Pro and als...

Re: Dutch man with cancer claims Hua Hin Hospital rip off

I might add, even when going to HH Bkk Hospital I usually do not buy prescription medicine there unless it is controlled and available only at the hospital. I ask for the prescription and buy it where it is cheaper, usually in Chumphon or Bkk. Also there is a small pharmacy in Sam Roi Yot that is ch...

Re: Dutch man with cancer claims Hua Hin Hospital rip off

RCer » Wed Sep 14, 2016 4:17 pm I've seen a lot of Thai people using BKK hospital. I'm guessing they either make a lot of baht or have good insurance. Governnent hospitals are definitely cheapest but wife says, “Go to Bangkok Hospital”. There are others she likes better but in HH that is what we ha...
