Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

Sorry to burst your bubble, but SMMT's forecast for 2024 new BEV,s sales is 414,000. 20,935 BEV's, 18,744 Hybrid's HEV's and 11,944 Hybrid Electrics PHEV's were newly registered in January 2024 alone! 414,000 where's the fall in those numbers? My EV easily does 300+ miles on a charge. Insurance is ...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

I know it’s boring to repeat myself, but EVs are garbage. The market for them has fallen off a cliff in the UK. Expensive to buy (unless you buy a Chinese sh*tbox), massive depreciation, high maintenance costs, high insurance, minimal range, fire risks when charging, excessive weight, battery degrad...

Re: Turn off the lights for “Earth Hour” tomorrow

Surely this is just someone’s sense of humour? The first one was Saturday March 31st 2007 and has since become a worldwide phenomenon. "Earth Hour has grown to become the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, bringing together individuals, communities, businesses, organizati...

Re: Locations that serve a "good" Amercian / English breakfast.

My favorite is Morning Bread opposite G Hua Hin Hotel on Soi 94. They bake their own fresh bread, and open at 7.00. But this morning I had a buffet breakfast at G Hua Hin, they just started to offer it. I have had buffets in all major hotels in Hua Hin, and G is the cheapest, under 500, and has goo...

The end of the oil age: https://cleantechnica.com/2024/02/28/opinion-the-end-of-the-oil-age/ "The 21st century will almost certainly be the Electricity Age. The cost of everything electric is plummeting while efficiency is rising. While this trend was pioneered in the United States, China (a v...

Just to clarify…the 2-5pm prohibition doesn’t apply to bars, it’s purely off-licence sales?

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

As I've pointed out before, a hydrogen fuel cell car is an EV, it just uses a fuel cell instead of a battery. It's less efficient by a factor of at least three and requires someone to build a huge hydrogen production and distribution network. And batteries are less than 20% as efficient as ICE. Tha...

Re: Covid-19 News & Updates (Thailand and Southeast Asia only)

Though the vaccinations undoubtedly saved many, particularly those with underlying conditions, the 'forced' vaccinations of the young and healthy (lose job without vax, can't participate in normal society without vax, kids can't study without vax) will no doubt prove more and more controversial as ...

Re: Thailand to introduce compulsory travel insurance/tourist tax

As I see it, this Gov't are intent on spending cash they don't have: 1. Free holiday insurance. 2. 10,000฿ handouts. 3. Wants a bigger minimum wage rise. 4. Electricity subsidies for the poor. 5. Extension of fuel subsidies. Should I go on? I don't think the the Gov't can carry on like this indefin...
