Re: Tips for recycling and reducing plastic use in Thailand

I agree, Oakdale. Many Thais I have tried to explain things to over the last 4 years seem to lose all interest after about 30 seconds leaving me with the impression that they have no interest in learning anything new... I think that caring about the environment/green issues is way outside of their n...

Re: Immigration to introduce 90 day reporting online

Still trying! I still can't get pass the Captcha number at the bottom of page 1... Presumably, system testing is very expensive in Thailand and the Government can't see that keeping the expats happy is directly employing thousands of Thais around the country. OK, I'm exaggerating, but you know what ...

Re: Immigration to introduce 90 day reporting online

Tried this today for the first time. Chrome, Firefox and Edge all failed to even get me to page 2... Tried Internet Explorer 11 (in Windows 10 just press the Windows key and type "Internet Explorer." Failed to get to page 2 again, because having filled in the Captcha number the program confirmed tha...

Re: The Beer Thread

For re-hydration (and for when I'm feeling literally "out of salts") I dissolve a sachet of Sea-Lyte in water. B250 for a box of 50 from the local pharmacy. A pinch of salt in your water/Coke/Fanta is an alternative...

Re: The Beer Thread

Years ago, a family member was training to be a chemist. She learned that because vodka is such a pure spirit, chemicals called congeners are added to simulate a thick head the morning after drinking. The following morning after drinking Thai beer (esp. Chang) the beer always seems to linger in my s...

Re: Cheap prefix code for calling the uk

I'm on AIS One 2 Call Pay As You Go and call England using the country code +00344. Call quality is good and it costs B5.5 per min.

(Don't know if you have to have a One 2 Call SIM to get this rate).

Re: Another cowardly farang bashing in Hua Hin

This thread is reading like an extension of the previous post re: the well publicised and televised incident in Binta... I have the same feeling about both incidents i.e. it is assumed that they were unprovoked and random i.e there was no history involved. In the incident which is the subject of thi...

Re: Best "free" film/TV streaming sites?

I've recently discovered: http://www.tvcatchup.com/channels http://www.tvcatchup.com/tv-guide I'm viewing via Chrome and my ESET Internet Security has not displayedany warnings to date. No buffering probs. - (I'm on TOT 50 Mbps). Last weekend I watched the E Grand Prix, some Rugby League and the Wom...

Are you referring to the same "free press" that had to report on the Gulf War from within Saudi Arabia?

Tha Yang Immigration - further address info required

I extended my Retirement Visa last Friday. During the course of the "experience" (just watching the action is always entertaining!) I was asked for my address in Thailand - despite it appearing twice on the Application Form (TM7). I produced my yellow Tabian Baan Foreigner's House Book which gives t...

Quoted by Mrs Chazz on too many occasions:

Re: Computer laws would give government control of internet

Surely every Government has a Department monitoring internet and email traffic? That's exactly what GCHQ in the UK and the Pentagon in the USA do... British and American politicians would just say they're doing it as part of the ongoing "fight against terrorism" which they feel effectively allows th...
