I Used Open Office for a couple of years with no probs... I then read that it was not being developed/supported anymore, whereas its sister product Libre Office was: https://www.libreoffice.org/

Re: The Beer Thread

Snowy made a brief appearance in our local 7-11 - and then was gone. My shop seems to be trialing/rotating various farang beers this year. Since Snowy I was saddened to see that (American) Budweiser and English Strongbow cider (both in 330ml bottles) have made an appearance! Is this trialing/rotatin...

Re: Spam AIS text messages

I called the AIS Call Centre on 1175 and selected the English language option and just asked the girl to block the spam to my phone - job done!

Re: What are the TV service options in Hua Hin.

Following the recent "death" of teatimetv.to, a quick Google search led me to easyview.eu which has 30 channels. All are broadcast live with no catch-up. Used it for a couple of days - good quality and no buffering issues so far...

If I do find a free site with catch-up I will update here...

Update: 90 Day Forms at Tha Yang Immigration

I've just found out today that 90 Day Forms are now processed in the back room, which has been fitted out with two desks... So now you can just walk straight through to the back - there are a few chairs for waiting. I only found out when the "receptionist" girl told me. Typically, no signs to have b...

Re: Looking for an alternative to True

Another free option is: http://www.tvcatchup.com/channels + http://www.tvcatchup.com/tv-guide Despite the name, this site provides LIVE UK TV (32 channels). I've used it almost daily for 6 months with now problems (other than a dodgy site attaching to it for a fortnight, but being detected and block...

Both Kiss Me Deadly and IPA Honey Bomb have appeared in my local 7-11 (on the P/kasem northbound at Cha Am Soi 54 - Nong Karng).

Re: Tips for recycling and reducing plastic use in Thailand

I agree, Oakdale. Many Thais I have tried to explain things to over the last 4 years seem to lose all interest after about 30 seconds leaving me with the impression that they have no interest in learning anything new... I think that caring about the environment/green issues is way outside of their n...

Re: Immigration to introduce 90 day reporting online

Still trying! I still can't get pass the Captcha number at the bottom of page 1... Presumably, system testing is very expensive in Thailand and the Government can't see that keeping the expats happy is directly employing thousands of Thais around the country. OK, I'm exaggerating, but you know what ...

Re: Immigration to introduce 90 day reporting online

Tried this today for the first time. Chrome, Firefox and Edge all failed to even get me to page 2... Tried Internet Explorer 11 (in Windows 10 just press the Windows key and type "Internet Explorer." Failed to get to page 2 again, because having filled in the Captcha number the program confirmed tha...

Re: The Beer Thread

For re-hydration (and for when I'm feeling literally "out of salts") I dissolve a sachet of Sea-Lyte in water. B250 for a box of 50 from the local pharmacy. A pinch of salt in your water/Coke/Fanta is an alternative...

Re: The Beer Thread

Years ago, a family member was training to be a chemist. She learned that because vodka is such a pure spirit, chemicals called congeners are added to simulate a thick head the morning after drinking. The following morning after drinking Thai beer (esp. Chang) the beer always seems to linger in my s...

Re: Cheap prefix code for calling the uk

I'm on AIS One 2 Call Pay As You Go and call England using the country code +00344. Call quality is good and it costs B5.5 per min.

(Don't know if you have to have a One 2 Call SIM to get this rate).
