Re: Interfering Farangs

I am probably one of the calmest and most laid back expats in Thailand, but in your case mate, the interfering idiots would have been cut down in no time at all. I have no time for the fools who try to defend any and all Thais just because they are Thai. Having said that, I can't figure out why an A...

Re: Judo club and gym club in HH ?

I am also not aware of any judo club in Hua-Hin. If you think your kid may enjoy karate, then I would definitely recommend getting in touch with sensei John from the Wado Karate Club referenced in the above post. My eldest daughter has been attending for nearly five years now and she still loves goi...

Re: Explosion at Bor Fai?

Yes Big Boy, it was a transformer box about 200 meters up the road from my home. It's the first time I've heard this one going boom, but one which is a bit closer to our place usually bangs about once a month or so, apparently because of ants nesting in it. Usually, the power comes back on almost im...

Re: Small, clean property 5k per month

D M, I've only met you once, but you seemed like a wonderful guy and I can only say I'm really sorry to see you going through all this right now. For what it's worth......... I am not a UK national and it took three attempts before we were able to get a UK visa for my Thai wife while I was working a...

Re: Moving in before paying for house - your thoughts?

I'm not sure how this whole business works, but when Mrs T and I bought our land I set very clear and simple rules: Mrs. T and I would go draw the money out at the bank, and hand it over to the seller at the land office once we had the chanote and etc. in our hands. If we sell our home now, it would...

About how to get some interesting things in Hua Hin, unfortunately as farangs individuals are not taken in consideration and magazin owners as Approach...

Re: Eating healthy

I might very well be wrong, but I think if you eat out most days then it will be very difficult to control weight gain, at least for most people. I think old fashioned home cooked meals are the way to go, but obviously many Farang who live here can't be bothered, and in the case of those who have Th...

Re: Tourism Ministry pitches durian Kit Kat to Nestlé

Kit Kats are Kit Kats, and they are not meant to have any crappy additional flavoring. My daughters love green tea and Kit Kats, but they don't like green tea Kit Kats.

Anyway, at least Nestle will see profits surge once Durian Kit Kats hit the market.

Re: Something for rice lovers to think about

I myself have eaten rice all my life, usually, 3 or 4 times a week while growing up, but drifted away from it once I was all grown up and able to eat anything I chose to eat. After arriving in Thailand, I soon found myself eating Thai food almost 100% of the time for many years, which obviously mean...

Re: Do you ever feel not farang?

I'm from South Africa and spent 10 years living in Scotland where after a few months, I felt 100% accepted. The only reminder that I was not from there was the fact that I needed to obtain permission to remain there once yearly. Other than that, and the difference in accent, I felt totally British. ...

Re: Kanchanaburi border (Phu Nam Ron) for visa runs

Hi Guys Does anyone know if this border crossing is open on weekends and bank holidays? A mate of mine is planning to do a visa run tomorrow, but he is quite happy to spend the Monday night in a hotel up there and do the run on Tuesday if need be. Just be good to know in advance if the border will b...

Something for rice lovers to think about

Saw this on the BBC, so I thought I would share on here. It doesn't really concern me because these days I very rarely eat rice.

If anyone is up for a challenge, try explaining this article to a Thai. :D

Re: Why do so many Thais look down on tourist / foreigners?

Personally, I think racism and/or looking down on others, has its roots in patriotism, a concept that teaches people to believe they are better than those from other countries. In some cases, it has to do with the here and now, while in other cases it has to do with the past. These days, I don't thi...
