Re: Buying an air rifle in Hua Hin

Yes 404, there are a lot of gun related crimes committed in Thailand, but not ever have I heard of any mass shootings here like the ones you have in the US every other day. Understandably, with gun related crimes already being quite high here, the government doesn't want to make matters even worse b...

Re: Buying an air rifle in Hua Hin

I personally don't think you can blame Thailand for not wanting us to own guns. They read the news too; all the cases mass shooting in the US and etc. How often do you get Thai people running around shooting people? The last thing Thailand needs is for Pattaya's heart broken handsome men to go off t...

Re: Cambodia clamps down on expat visas

I used to do more or less steady freelance work for an American company and I was never expected to pay any taxes. At the same time, should I ever have been expected to pay tax here? Not only was I employed in the US as such, but as a foreigner I am not entitled to any benefits here.

Re: Hua Hin's Finest (police in Hua Hin)

If you give them the opportunity, of course they will fine (or accept a bribe from) you. It's what police all over the world would do. Police all over the world accepts bribes??? I think you would put yourself in a really bad situation if you tried to bribe a Swedish police officer. And I guess the...

Re: Hua Hin's Finest (police in Hua Hin)

Big Boy, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I actually like the police in Thailand. Yes, I'm sure there are many bad apples, but for the most part, I think they are very pleasant. As you have said, if you break the law and you get fined, then just accept it. Whether you see it as a fine, or ...

Re: Rough Cost of 6 x 6 m Storage Shed

Guys, Can anyone give me a rough cost estimate to build a basic 6 x 6 shed with a sloped roof 2.5m garage door and cement floor. Thanks It really depends on what sort of standard/quality you are wanting. For example, timber frame, steel frame, or regular brick and mortar. If you can speak Thai, or ...

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches, jail time for offenders

I'm a smoker. I have never understood why smokers don't put out their butt and dispose of it properly. Mine go in my pocket until I find a recepticle. That''s your military background. I used to do the same thing. Hold it with your thumb and index finger, flick off the lit end with the fingernail o...

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches, jail time for offenders

About time. Some smokers are real arrogant pigs. Yep, I think it must be the tobacco or one of the additives found in the tobacco because to be honest, I have never in my life come across an arrogant non-smoker. Other than smokers, the only other times I've experienced arrogance is among vehicle ow...

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches, jail time for offenders

I can't imagine many tourists walking onto a beach here and even noticing a cigarette but when there is so much other litter to catch their attention. If I have been to the beach tens times since we moved from Takiap about 9 or 10 years ago, it is a lot. Sorry if I offend anyone, but in my opinion, ...

So much rain, and yet in Borfai Soi 6, we still have to pay the water mafia to deliver water every other day.    If you lived in Soi 6, instead of being an imposter from Soi 4, you could get all the water you want! :rasta: :D You are right, I also forget that th...

Re: Revolutionary Road Crossing for Hua Hin

At the end of the day, they can install the brightest lights known to man, and it still won't make even a small difference in terms of safety. Mr Somchai, being the most important person on the planet, always has the right of way. The only way in this country to make a crossing safe, would be to use...

But you are not the Mod. You somehow twisted my posts : I never said Sheraton customer service was bad. It was superb, I said that repeatedly. The weddings were not customer service. Perhaps, you can stop advertising in the media I own . Could this have anything to do with your need for us all to p...

Re: Roast Beef

Makro usually sells whole chickens as well. As far as roast beef is concerned, I'm not really a "Sunday Roast" sort of person, but I have heard you can enjoy decent roast at a pub/restaurant up Soi 2 or Soi 112 (not sure which), and as far as I can remember, if you spend more than 200 baht on drinks...

Re: Embarrassing Farangs

Well, I wasn't going to contribute to this thread again, but.................. If it was a Thai who got caught stealing luggage, would it even have been mentioned on this forum? Probably not. Why? Is it understandable or acceptable for a Thai to steal, but not a Farang? Every time a vendor, a taxi d...
