Re: Opening a Thai bank account

If you look at other posts and threads on here you will realise the rules changed last year! All the people saying it’s easy are talking in the past. I was even offered a bank account over dinner when I sat near the bank manager from kassikorn when he was celebrating his birthday. He sent over some...

Delighted to see that the Nereus and Takiap show [aka the 2 Colonials] is still going strong... On the left right there ... and that Nereus' geography is as good as Takiap's! I put it like that so's youse Pom's could find it! :rasta: 'n behoefte aan 'n dik vel te kry :thumb: :thumb: :thumb...

Re: Opening a Thai bank account

I must have a very likeable face because I have opened a number of bank accounts without any need for a work permit or any letter from my embassy. All I have ever needed was my passport and a minimum deposit of 500 baht, and if I remember correctly, an additional 500 baht if you want an ATM card. Ob...

Re: Mr. Nice resturant Soi 4

Yep, a good place for a nice and affordable meal and/or coffee and/or beer. The owner worked in the hotel/catering business overseas for a number of years. If you live nearby he will also deliver to your door. He's also recently bought one of those Suzuki trucks/taxis and will gladly pick people up ...

Re: Mr Burger 3 Re-opened as Oasis

Thanks to those who have posted about this place. I used to be a regular at Mr. Burger 3, and like Big Boy, I always headed straight for the salas. Yep, the food was nothing to shout about, but that was reflected in the very affordable prices. I always felt that you got really good value for your mo...

Re: Human fetuses found among household garbage in Hua Hin

I am certainly not anti-abortion, but at eight months into a pregnancy, it is a baby in every sense of the word, apart from the fact that it has not been delivered yet. I also don't entirely agree with the notion that most Thai women are still unaware of the law regarding abortions. My own wife want...

Re: Water truck

Where about in HH do you live? If anywhere near Borfai, let me know and I'll get a couple of numbers for you. Here in the Sahara (Soi 4) water is more scarce than it is in Cape Town right now. The only difference is that the Soi 4 drought has lasted for more than a decade already so the water delive...

Re: The Baguette

Don't ask Takiap as he speaks very little English, and I am not sure that he can count! :rasta: Fortunately he lives on the north side of town where the Soi numbers are fairly low... He does indeed, but he keeps calling it Soi 6, when, if you look at the road sign, it clearly reads; Soi 4!...

Re: Thailand 'least miserable' country on Earth

I have not lived in every country so I cannot really judge, but to be honest, I do believe that Thailand is far less miserable than any country I have visited or lived in before. For the most part, the only misery I encounter here comes from disgruntled Farang who live here, but who actually dislike...

Re: The Baguette

There are two outlets in Cha-Am, and no doubt this new one which is opening soon will also do well. I had always assumed that it was a Farang/Thai partnership, but apparently not. I've been told they are owned by a Thai couple who recently split/divorced, with one now owning the two in Cha-Am, and t...

Re: Human fetuses found among household garbage in Hua Hin

One of the babies was in months 8. I'm sorry, but he or she was not aborted, she was murdered, and in my opinion, so was the one which was at 6 months.

It sickens me to think that I am forced to share this planet with such vile scum. :guns:

You are correct HHTel, women can get legal abortions here so absolutely no need for such barbaric behavior as described in the OP. :(

Re: Wildlife hunters must face justice

Until park rangers are given the right to "shoot to kill", this sort of thing will continue to happen. If anyone is caught/spotted in a nature reserve with a firearm, park rangers should have the authority to shoot them, and also to leave their bodies there for nature to deal with. Sadly, poaching w...

Re: Wildlife hunters must face justice

I seriously doubt if we will hear anything more about this in the public domain. He has paid his bail; he may pay a small fine out of sight from the cameras and the media, and the case will simply be forgotten. A farang bringing an electronic cigarette into the country, or smoking on the beach is of...
