Re: Flight to Thailand bargains

You don't know what you're missing, curry and free flow beer in a big modern sports bar in New Delhi, much better than anything in Suvarnabhumi!

Re: Flight to Thailand bargains

Which dates are the trip? One way or return? Regarding booking sites I try to avoid them and book directly with the airline. If anything goes wrong like delays, cancellations, change of schedule or whatever, it can be a nightmare to have to deal with a third party that may or may not have a custome...

does tranferwise work in the opposite direction
I just tried that and it doesn't seem to be an option, you can go from major currencies to Thai baht but not the other way round.

Re: Sending money

If you have a smart phone download an App called TransferWise..... I do quite a lot of international transfers so this got me interested, I checked it out with a couple of financial professionals I know and then gave it a try, from UK to Europe to start with and it's efficient and cheap, so it's a ...

Re: Thailand speed limits to be halved?

As for speeding, the car manufacturers themselves could make a massive difference simply by limiting the speed of the cars they produce. If a car cannot reach 160 km/h then nobody would be doing such speeds in the first place. Yes, much slower speeds can also kill, but reducing maximum speed would ...

106 year old fruitcake found in Antarctica http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-40907084 Ice-covered Antarctica is one of the earth's most hostile natural environments. But a new find by the Antarctic Heritage Trust suggests it's no match for a 106-year-old British fruitcake. Conservators found the el...

Re: Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrency thread

Don't worry about understanding all the ins and outs of it, Steve, I really don't either. But what I do know is that you can make/lose money investing in it. I liken it a bit like gambling - don't invest any more money than you're willing to lose. If you just doing this for fun, then it's harmless ...

Yes, I'm not saying it's not worth anything, just that I don't really understand quite why it might be!

Re: Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrency thread

Since this thread appeared, I've read quite a bit about bitcoin from a variety of sources on the net and I'm still baffled as to why one of them is worth anything. http://www.nasdaq.com/article/why-bitcoin-has-value-cm733313 " “Why does it actually have value?” The two-word answer is one most econo...

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

This thread is supposed to be about other benefits also. If Thailand isn't cheap for you, what do you find better than at home? For me, the greatest benefit is being able to spend most of the time outside due to the climate, I don't like being indoors and I spend the vast majority of my day in Thai...

Re: Thailand speed limits to be halved?

I may well be wrong but it may also refer to small villages etc, you often see signs that state "City limit, please reduce speed" or along those lines. The definition of City may well be "lost in translation" as I do remember an ex girlfriend constantly referring to her home town as a city when in ...

Re: Thailand speed limits to be halved?

I think when they are talking about city speed limits, they're referring to Bangkok or somewhere because it's very hard to get up to 40kmh in Hua Hin, let alone 80.
