Cheers BB. I will let him know. I think it is money he wants that the missus doesn't know about or along those lines. he may be going to buy her a Xmas present with it ? or he could be planning a week in Pattaya.

Re: Visitors flee power blackout on Koh Samui, Koh Phangan

Once again it comes down to preparation. The power was off for 2 days and as said they put it on around the island for a few hours so we all got some. The last big storm that took down my power lines made me go out and get a generator. 20,000 Baht later and now I have a back up. A quick pull of the ...

Re: English vs Japanese car quality in 1968

Ahh the halcyon days of British motoring. I remember the TR7 well. My friend bought one brand new when the came out. Black and gold. looked lovely but it was a lemon. It was forever in the garage. first with gearbox problems then electrical problems then overheating problems. triumph refused to take...

Re: Being declared dead when missing ?

Thanks again mate for taking the time to post. Another poser for you. Is there any reason you can think of as to why his Thai wife would insist on waiting for the full 7 years to pass before having him declared dead ? Surely if he can be declared dead after two years that would be better all round ?...

Re: Tourist condemns Thai police injustice

Unfortunately the normal attire here on Samui for riding a bike is a pair of shorts, flip flops and shades and that's it. Even though it has been lashing it down for about a week here and no sun and dark, horrible clouds they still persist in the above. I read that Samui is the bike death capital of...

Re: Being declared dead when missing ?

Thank you. I will pass it on to her. His Mum has been told from 2, 5, 7 years before he can be declared dead. Surprisingly though his English insurers paid out without any fuss at all.
Cheers again Dunc

Being declared dead when missing ?

Just a shot in the dark here but last week was the 2nd anniversary of the death of my friend. He went missing when cave diving in a sink hole in the jungle. I have his family here and they were wondering how long they have to wait before he can be officially declared dead. They have been told severa...

Re: Floods Hit Samui

They have been replacing the storm drains for the last few months and the heavy rain we are having here hasn't caused that much flooding compared to last year. More a case of patches of standing water rather than flooding. The drains seem to be doing the trick.

Re: Corrosion in swimming pools

As said DB just low grade stainless steps. Also when people say it is a salt water pool it just means they use salt to create the chlorine to chlorinate the pool and it isnt actually salt water :thumb:

Re: In Car CD/MP3 Player

I have a Toyota radio CD player that came with the new Toyota yaris I bought the wife. It has never been used as I had it replaced with an all singing and dancing sat nav, TV internet, camera one so it is just sat there.
