Re: Men and their mistresses

On a totally off topic thing, re the PM's spouting of gems like these, there are apparent moves to remove tax exemption for the first 20,000 baht in anyone's bank account. Which would mean all interest in a bank account would be taxable. They must be getting desperate.. Was in the Bangkok Post a fe...

And probably gets to keep the money.. :duck:
The govt. gets to keep the money, ie. the 30 million baht bond that she forfeited. Better than spending time in a Thai prison, or any prison.

Re: The Beer Thread

Guinness original (in a bottle) is my preferred Arthur's ale. not so smooth and creamy as the draught or widget can. I don't know if it's available in Thailand? I would have thought it would travel OK. That's the one I like. The one they call draft, in a can, is poor quality stuff and just another ...

Re: Hundreds of city cops fail traffic test

I've been thinking about this, and how helpful it would be if they published questions and correct answers. We might all learn something. It seems a lot of the failures were about new legislation. I don't remember hearing of any changes to traffic law in the 5 years I've lived here, so my knowledge...

Of the 7 countries that I have in over the past 56 yrs. Thailand us the most corrupt and screwed-up. I suspect the former has led to the latter.

Re: Proof of income for retirement visa

laphanphon, I'm retired and I don't receive enough money to be taxed and I'm satisfied with an affidavit. I have no love for any government and am quite happy to not give them my money to spend killing people around the world. As long as I'm not a burden on the Thai govt. and pay my bills why would ...

Re: Proof of income for retirement visa

Keep in mind the whole thing is a farce, as the embassy approves whatever you say your income is and the Thais accept whatever the embassy paper says, so when the amount gos up, as it will in the future, just change the amount on the document.

you will find that at each immigration center you will receive a different answer to the same question. Welcome to Thailand, the land of everything backwards, where the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and thinking is not a requirement.

Tel: 032-512281, 032-511-965

They fixed our 23 yr. old Mercedes air conditioner and it's working fine.
