Re: Learning Thai

I am embarrassed. I have a friend 50ish guy, has lived in China 15y and speaks 2 Chinese languages fluently. He comes to Thai 3 times a yr for 3w at a time. After about 3 years of this he can carry on conversations quite easily. Everyday he takes lessons, not from certified teachers but from bar gi...

Re: Thailand a bright spot for regional education

My daughter entered the univ. in Bangkok, 4 yrs. ago, as a Korean studies major. She didn't know Korean when she entered and graduated this year with honors and is working as a translator. I think that most of the onus must be placed on the students. You can teach until your brain rots but if the st...

Re: Jalapeños at Villa Market!

Most Americans wouldn't recognise a fresh japaleno (or real cheese for that matter). I would not want a raw unpickled pepper in my burger, dog, nachos, etc. I'll try to get to Market Village before they're gone. "most"? every American that I know, and that's a lot, knows what real cheese and jalape...

I'm pretty sure I last bought some in the basement of Market Village. Can't recall exactly where.
Cheers,
GN.
Yes, you're correct it's in the basement. take the escalator down and walk straight ahead, you'll see the shop at the end. Or at least it was a month ago.

Re: Bringing Electronic cigarette to Thailand

the reason you can't bring them here is that if you bring them you won't have to buy them and Thailand loses money. ipso facto, you can buy them here but only thais are allowed to smoke them. makes sense to me.

Re: New immigration form (TM6) goes into effect in October

Glad to see things have changed since I lost mine some years ago. Required a trip all the way back to main immigration office in Bangkok then plus considerable forms to fill out. What you say is very interesting in light of the Gov trying to streamline the arrival process. It seems they want to kee...

This thread is supposed to be about other benefits also. If Thailand isn't cheap for you, what do you find better than at home?

Opera (and 2 other browsers I tried) had no copy problems, even with JavaScript enabled. It turned out that their built in ad blockers solved the issue transparently.
