Re: Why aren't there bars like this in Hua Hin?

you can go to any western country and not be "treated with courtesy." try a café in the French countryside, north Germany, the U.S. south, midwest or nearly any small town. Foreigners are neither wanted nor welcome, or in the U.S. south, if you're not from there you're a foreigner.

Re: 5,000 potential 'Grenfell Towers' in Bangkok

re the Grenfell towers: shouldn't the owners, builders and inspectors be arraigned? all should have known that the wrong cladding was used and all should do prison time.

Re: 5,000 potential 'Grenfell Towers' in Bangkok

it's better to let your building burn and collect the insurance, hence all the burned out buildings in Bangkok. the owners should be made to tear them down after a fire, before they can collect the insurance.

Re: Why can't Farangs stop complaining?

i fall under the category of having a thai wife and can't afford to live at home. if I could I'd leave here in a new York minute. mainly because the climate and culture doesn't suit me. most of the things read about living in Thailand, before I came here, aren't true. maybe my age and cultural needs...

Re: Survey: Thailand 'among top 20 most dangerous countries' to visit

it may be dangerous to visit here but i feel quite safe living here. compared to having lived in Chicago, L.A., London and Paris, Hua Hin is feather bed.

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

the real hope is my youngest (22) daughter's generation. especially the females. many are well educated, have started travelling abroad, are curious about the world and ambitious. my eldest daughter (32) just returned from her first trip abroad (3 weeks in Holland) and is like a new person. her atti...

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

change requires education by people who are educated and it must start in the first year of school. punishment is a poor educator, it's breeds contempt and violence. until logic and critical thinking are taught here nothing will change. in the meantime we all have to look out for our own behinds.

police traffic stop

Friday, heading south, on the way to market village, there was a police traffic stop. everybody was waived through except me. I stopped rolled down my window, the policeman leaned in and asked, "How much you sell?" (I was driving my wife's 23 yr. old Mercedes 160.) I just looked at him, shook...

Re: Thailand to introduce compulsory travel insurance/tourist tax

it seems that this means that soon, no one without health insurance will be able to travel. I wonder what will happen when a person who has a retirement visa in Thailand takes a vacation to another country. will said person have to show proof of insurance before being readmitted to Thailand? if so, ...
