Re: Hua Hin's Finest (police in Hua Hin)

Stupid certainly. No such thing as an International Driving Licence. If his own country licence is in English and bears a photograph, that's all that's needed. Another farang told me that his driving license is also in english, he had to pay, because not accepted. Maybe a trick to extort money by t...

Re: Hua Hin's Finest (police in Hua Hin)

I think that by now nearly everyone, Thai and Farang, know that Thailand has a culture of corruption. It's exists at every level of society from the car wash attendant, who accepts a bribe to move your car to the front of the line, to the traffic cop, who invents an offence in order to receive a bri...

Re: Thai junta sets firm date for election

If I remember correctly, the military will still control the parliament and courts so it doesn't matter who the PM is.

Re: Farang Contempt for Thais?

I agree with VincentD, when I lived in Los Angeles the white people talked about the "lazy Mexicans". Whenever I needed hard labor done I would go to the valley and on the corners would see many Mexican men looking for work. I'd find the one's wearing boots or work shoes and hire them for the day. I...

Re: DELL PC Worldwide Support

No need to tell me, my Japanese credit card works day in day out everywhere. What has happened to the battery? The rule is, after 3 years the PC (laptop) is replaced. after 5 yrs. the battery only charges to approx. 50%. mostly, I use the computer plugged in so at this point it's not an issue. "the...

Check the one in MV before you dismiss them. I don't know what the prices are but it seems that it would be worth asking. You might also try the pet supply place in the Mackro parking lot for a recommendation.

Driving in Thailand is not like playing roulette; it's more like poker where the deck is stacked against you.
Russian roulette. With five bullets. :guns:
Hopefully it's a 6 shot gun so, at least, you get 1 chance to survive.

Thank you Homer. Hopefully I'll find a vendor who'll take a Thai card as I don't know anyone with a non-Thai card.

Re: DELL PC Worldwide Support

I tried to buy a battery for my Dell laptop and was told I had to order it online through a 3rd party supplier. I tried to do that through a supplier in Malaysia but they wouldn't take a Thai credit card. Then there's the problem of knowing whether it's a genuine Dell battery or a Chinese knockoff. ...

Re: Red plates - just a thought

Do away with the entire red plate system altogether as it's completely daft and open to all sort of corruption and ambiguity. Surely they can do better than this in the 21st century....however, having said that, they can't even give the cops a modern uniform as opposed to the present YMCA Village P...

Chaz14, the Zappa quote was borrowed from Jon Hendicks. it's a line from one of his songs on the Sing a Song of Basie album, called Little Pony.

Re: Farang Contempt for Thais?

If you'd like to experience contempt for farangs, go to Home Pro and ask where a product is located and be dismissed with a wave of the hand pointing in an amorphous direction. Or is that done to everyone? Done to everyone until you get to a person who works in that particular area. They will guide...
