Re: Tax residency in Thailand
I 'm a non uk tax resident and I am looking to retire to Thailand in about 2 years. I have already done homework on this issue as I plan to not only take my armed forces pension but use a few other means as an income. My financial advisor has already said besides my non tax status and the liability...

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
I've never tried using a card. I have a two step process: • First I transfer funds from my US bank (American Express) to my Wise account. That takes a few minutes. • Then I initiate the transfer from my Wise account to Bangkok Bank. This can take many hours. I guess that holding on to my funds for ...

This could have a serious (positive) impact on small breweries in Thailand - things should become clearer in the coming weeks. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Food-Beverage/Thailand-braces-for-liquor-industry-disruption-under-Move-Forward That's an interesting development. Fingers crossed it actua...

Re: Comparing restaurant prices between Hua Hin and the UK
On my recent visit to the UK I found the Thai restaurant chain Thaikhun very good value for money and my wife said it was very authentic. On a smaller scale Abbie's Thai in Earls Court , London was a very busy family type restaurant, very much like the real thing and again reasonable. 55 pounds for ...

Re: The AI (artificial intelligence) thread
I have been trying out CHATgpt3 and have found it very user friendly and accurate. My experience was that it supplied the answer to any question in a very personalised way and fast. For example I asked what the difference was between Sunni and Shite Muslims, not that I am particularly interested but...

Re: The AI (artificial intelligence) thread
I'm sad to see some uninfomed people in the news talking about advancement in AI (led by the advance of quantum computing over the next 10 to 20 years) leading to 'sentient' computers. In my opinion this is a ridiculous scare word describing increasingly useful (but to some, worrying), computing po...

Re: The AI (artificial intelligence) thread
Regarding AI replacing people in particular HR staff I hope they don't suffer the same fate banks did when they thought it was no longer necessary to eyeball loan applicants.
However there is no doubt AI is going to make a huge difference to society.

Transfer of title when buying condo
I am in the process of buying a new condo from the developers. My lawyers are insisting that any bank transfers from the UK carry a message that states "to buy condo HuaHin ??/???" I have been using Wise, mostly and it is not possible to include this message. However you can tick a box whi...
