Re: Targeting 'coloreds'

There is still a lot of racisme everywhere, inside every country as well.
Rich people despise the poor ones.
We love beautiful girls and ignore ugly ones.
City dwellers don't like peasants.
And Huahin residents look down upon Pattaya addicts...

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

As stated by Iomuamart, the process has not changed and a friend of mine, who is now in the 30 day "under consideration" received a phone call asking him to send better pictures of him and wife, because the former ones were not clear enough... My friend lives in Prachuap City and cannot re...

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

A friend asked me to translate the requirement for his visa extension (married with a Thai lady) and maybe it will be useful for some people.

As I am French, corrections are welcome, either in Thai or English.

Agree with Buksida "your money will go a lot further in a non-tourist and more Thai town."

Re: article about life in Thailand

I have been living in Thailand for 15 years and I am quite happy. Negative comments generally come from people who cannot accept differences and always compare with their own country. Of course, everything is not perfect and you have to weigh up the pros and cons (language - weather - cost of life -...

no don't get ripped off by "visa shops". it is the us government that does not want your girlfriend in the country. every woman in all of SEA wants to go to the USA and stay. not going to happen. there is a very long list of things you will have to do to get your girlfriend a visa. good l...

Answering the OP, this is my way which proved to be widely accepted :

I give the 500 or 1000 note and let the girl choose the small change in my other hand.

Re: Poor English could dim Thai job prospects in Asean common market

I agree with this too : (Quoting VS and Takiap) Anyway, I agree with Vital Spark, in that a desire to learn is the most important factor, along with the skill of teachers. But I still think that a good knowledge of Thai is a great help in teaching English, especially for beginners and intermediate l...

Re: Poor English could dim Thai job prospects in Asean common market

it is not necessary for a native English teacher to speak, read and write Thai. I never use Thai in the classroom. VS [/quote] So, how can you explain anything to a beginner ? How can you teach the basic grammar rules ? Isn't it useful to stress the differences between Thai and English with good ex...

Re: Poor English could dim Thai job prospects in Asean common market

Most Thai teachers have never practiced their English in an English-speaking country. Most English-speaking teachers in Thailand do not speak, read and write Thai, or very poorly and some of them are not even qualified for teaching. I really think that the problem lies with the teachers and not with...

I climbed it this morning and met an American man in his sixties, living in Prachuap city, who told me he does it 3 times every morning... It took me about one hour, stopping to take pictures and enjoy the views, and I saw the man on his way up and down 2 times. I will not compete with Buksida's bea...

No commercial flights and very few military, essentially helicopters from time to time.
