Re: Security at Hua Hin to be stepped up for high season

is this just HH or have they announced more security activity for other tourist destinations? If so it smells like a smoke and mirror activity to counteract the accusations that Thai is not a safe place after the several murders of tourists.

Re: Govt: hellish airport immigration queues must end

Most of the stations have 2 seats and a few will have 2 officers working 1 line, but usually, 80% of them have only 1 officer per station, it is not a shortage of stations, but a shortage of officers that is the problem.

Re: Cars with dashcams get 5-10% discount

Talking of discounts, some Canadian provinces are offering huge rebates if you buy an electric car. As much as $C14,000 (£8750) and also another rebate on installing home charging stations.

Re: Dates when no alcohol sold in Hua Hin

The moderators have locked the thread about the arrangements for the coming solemn events===this is quite understandable. Many HHAD posters are only concerned about how their social life will be affected. So I am re-opening this "polite" tread. No editorializing, just the open/closed facts. I unders...

Re: The Beer Thread

Re: Govt to increase alcohol tax again

Thats reminds me of another reason why it's not for every pub, you have to know how to pour it from the Tap. Slowly, gently. let it settle then top it up. It can be a wait, but it's worth it.

Re: GBP vs THB

Does any poster have really serious plan to return to the UK if the baht gets below a certain level, say 40. I group of British guys that I know had this conversation some time ago and all agreed, below 45 and they are gone, but they are still all here.

Re: Govt to increase alcohol tax again

it is good that there are only a few places selling it. You need a fast turnover. Once the cask is tapped it needs to be sold in a couple of days otherwise the Guinness becomes less fresh and vibrant.

Re: GBP vs THB

Just a hint from the B of E that they "might consider" raising the prime the next time they review it, though not at the moment, is enough to make the pound rise quite considerably.
